Russel Coight Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Cumstains on the couch isn’t mark singing about having a flog and jizzing on the couch. We’ve been through this. 1 1 Quote

I don’t think it’s there unnecessarily though, it’s painting the picture of gross conditions in grimy temporary spaces. Touring involves staying in lots of hotels which are probably not historically the best rooms every night (when you think of when they were first touring this is especially true) you’d find unsavoury elements that add to the feeling of stress and isolation. It is gross but makes sense within the track. If he was making it about him jizzing it up yeah that’d be grim but he isn’t. 3 1 Quote
Russel Coight Posted August 19 Posted August 19 It is “It sucks im in another hotel room with this gross couch and not my comfy home” It’s not “im gonna cum on this couch” 2 1 Quote

GOFFGLAZER2025 Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I actually agreed with Boxelder’s take and didn’t think that deeply about the lyrics. I just thought it was a cool song and wasn’t taking it that seriously because if I start doing that then I start sounding like an old man yelling at clouds again lol. I appreciate the other perspectives offered here 2 1 Quote
Centrist_Jans Cookbook Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I actually kind of wished it was Mark wacking it onto a couch at age 50 now instead of just finding stains the couch and venting 1 Quote

thongrider Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I understand the idea that someone in his 50s writing songs that are immature should be more cringe than a millionaire singing songs to relate to the general public. Quote
boxelder Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I will say, a song I'm truly in love with off OMT deluxe is every other weekend. I think it’s a perfect pastiche of Cure inspiration. I think the production really works especially in context with the rest of the OMT record. 2 Quote

Same with One Night Stand and Everyone Everywhere. No Fun and All In My Head are good too but tend to mix them up or can't remember them as much. If You Never Left, Can't Look Back also good. CME, See You, Take Me In are abominations though. Should have been an EP! 1 Quote
GOFFGLAZER2025 Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I haven’t listened to Every Other Weekend yet, or i did and dismissed it. Everyone Everywhere is great though. Quote
Kay Posted August 19 Author Posted August 19 Take Me In is in my top 5 “worst blink songs ever” list 3 1 Quote
thongrider Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Love Take Me In. It sounds so not blink. If it was written by someone else that ruins it though, but I love when they're able to do something completely different. Quote

I truly started questioning dead internet theory being real because of how many ppl were hyping it couldn’t believe. It’s truly abysmal. I’d go: Blame it on my Youth, Take Me In, Fell In Love, Black Rain, Parking Lots Top 5 worst. Granted I think everything from Matt Skiba era days is worse, it’s about context.
