Oh look who it is, the guy who likes every song.

I’m a slut for blink songs what can I say? Probably the reason I spend all my time here.

I stand firmly on the “fighting the gravity” is a good song hill. I’ll die here alone.

not a great song for sure, but i'll always take an experiment, even one that fails or is off-putting, over something especially bland. miss when they took big swings like that. recording light fixtures and letting THAT inform the creative process. just weird, esoteric shit

I don't understand the Fighting the Gravity hate.  Especially after California - Nine.  It still stands is wild to me.  It was just like a chill +44 song.  Really appreciated it then and still do now, guys need to expand yourselves more.

The first three tracks of DED are still wicked listens.

I rank them in the same order of the tracklist, but man, When I Was Young is special.

That chorus still hits like crack.

Agreed I just hate Toms voice in that era

To be honest I don’t remember a single song from OMT deluxe because I only listened to it for a day when it came out.
Deluxe editions with 2 or 3 songs used to be good, now I hate the concept because there are too many extra songs that never meet the quality of the original album, it’s just artists shoving a bunch of songs that were left out of the original album and then calling that a “deluxe”… deluxe editions should be an expansion of your original album, not just leftovers that don’t go anywhere.

For the record, OMT still works well as a full album. I listened to MTYK a few days ago and it was still a great song.

OMT was already bloated as is. Still think it runs great as well but a few songs too long.  The deluxe just..

I hate how this is just like industry standard now. B sides were so much cooler.  Why are we getting less cool with time?

It’s quantity over quality now. Deluxe editions used to be so cool when artists held a strong track or two aside for a deluxe release.
Now we get a bunch of songs which either weren’t considered strong enough for the album or that were written on the spot months later just to be added to a deluxe album coming out and I feel that they shouldn’t belong to that album.

If the artist really likes them, but still thinks they’re not strong enough, then they should make them stronger over time and release them separately on an EP or a later album.

Sorry but Neighborhoods is the inverse of “sounding like shit” compared to the new glossy pop punk sounding like shit.

Either we get bubblegum pop sounds or cardboard and tin can sounds, neither of which lives up to Jerry Finn.

Cardboard and tin? How are you deducing that? lol the production on Neighborhoods sounds great. It sounds how real “rock” albums should sound

Tom's guitar sounds like complete ass, where's Mark's classic bass tone?

WYHSB and AVA were much better "sounding" albums.

I think the tones sound appropriate for the songs. These aren’t “classic” blink songs. I dunno I’m not mad at your take I guess I just appreciate Neighborhoods because it’s professional but less polished than all of their stuff from Enema and beyond.

Neighborhoods songs almost sound like demos.  Which just shows how good of songs they were.  I’m glad they are what they are, but will always wish we got one more Finn quality record.
Leaving on Self Titled was just so disappointing. OMT would have been immense with even a decent producer, let alone Finn.
