Russel Coight Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Jan’s list not having Going Away to College in his top 50 is fucked. 1 1 Quote

Most of the top 35 are run by Dude Ranch though. It’s hard, but those songs are near perfection hard to put anything else over it Quote

I mean if we’re listing 35 songs everyone is gonna have a solid list lol Quote
whales Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I don't need a top 35 because Cali Deluxe only has 28 tracks. (this is a joke) 1 1 Quote
Centrist_Jans Cookbook Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Cacophony is honestly such a good song. It actually might crack the top 15. It’s some of the best work all around. Tbh Quote
Russel Coight Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Jan seriously listened to Cheshire Cat for the first time last week. I’m sure of it. 2 1 Quote

logangage Posted October 10 Posted October 10 ONE MORE TIME is one of my fav albums by blink to date. It has so much of their old stuff, and a lot of their new stuff blended with a (In my opinion) better version of the 2003 record. Especially Part-2. Some of my fav tracks are Can't Go Back, Turpentine, If You Never Left, Every Other Weekend, Take Me In, More Than You Know, Other Side, and Bad News. These are absolute gems. And I feel like No Fun and All In My Head sounds so much like old blink they could have put it on one of their records anywhere from 1999 to 2003 2 Quote

I mean, so am I, but you gotta appreciate their new stuff, too. People online for any music artist will be like "Oh, this band (or artist) died a while ago, their old stuff is amazing but they just can't make quality music anymore", which I really hate when ppl do that. Nobody needs to stay in one style, I love it when musicians get experimental (some more than others). Like Eminem, for example. I love his new album. Quote

In 2023 the OG OMT was the best blink album of all time for Jan, for the same reason you meant on your post above (blend of old and new blink), then he gradually changed his mind. 1 Quote

The rip was really good. And it does blend new and old styles. But stating it’s a better version of 2003 because Part 2 is heresy and a teaching lesson for these kids. Really could have competed with better focus (no songwriters, less songs) and better production (someone..normal) though. I just felt like being a douche. 1 1 Quote

You can appreciate the new while acknowledging it’s nowhere near the quality of the old or the charm of the early. Most bands follow the same rise and fall, it’s normal. 1 1 Quote
Champ182 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I love One More Time so much. We're in a pretty unique time in music history where a ton of bands who already had their time and then broke up or went on hiatus or whatever have come back years later. That never happened in the past the way it's happening now. Some of them are cash grabs, some are because their kids grew up and they're bored and wanna relive their youth or stave off old age, and very few genuinely recapture the inspiration and energy it takes to be a "real" band. Against all odds, that's where Blink are at right now. I genuinely never ever thought I would see a version of Blink that had all 3 members feeling engaged and creative and trying hard, ever again. In my opinion, that comes through in the music, even if it's impossible for them to actually reach the levels of genius they had when they were way younger and in way different circumstances in life. We were lucky enough to see what these dudes could do at full capacity in their 20s, and now we are getting to see what they can do at full capacity in their 40s and 50s. Of course it's not gonna be exactly the same and they can't fully achieve the symbiosis they did back in the day, but it was totally far-fetched for almost 2 decades that we'd ever get to see it. It's such a gift. 2 Quote

Well, I mean i've never really been a fan of the 2003 record, but that's just me. I listen to Violence and Stockholm (and most of the album) more in the winter, but would I go out of my way to listen to it? Probably not. It kina js sounds like Box Car Racer, but with Mark, yk? I don't think it really sounds like blink 100%, altho I can see bits and pieces of them in it. 1 1 Quote
