See You kind of stinks, have barely revisited, Cut Me Off = ?

Yuck. That chorus is the worst thing on the album

Not trying to trash you here but man it's crazy what people hear. The chorus of Cut Me Off is the best part of that song and See You sounds like such an afterthought forgettable song.

Cut me off verses are okay but the chorus is horrendous. See you is a dope neighborhoods / ava song. The album deserved one.

I get the distaste for the Cut Me Off chorus, it's very +44/Simple Creatures side project vibey, but I personally enjoy that so I dig it.  "On a landline on a lifeline!".   What I don't like is how loudly Tom's vocals come in right away after Otherside.  Tainting my album!

I'm over it though.  Letting blink be blink right now.  Makes it easier.

I mean it's either this - or nothing. Disographys already fucked with California/Nine, and we love the trio so bring us the noise!

After listening to both songs a handful of times I have the following observations:

neither really fits in the flow of the album

Both are growers

As stand alone songs I think they're good, not great and certainly I don't think they suck.

with the benefit of a few days, cut me off kinda rules. still pretty formulaic, but i dig the chorus (broken and pathetic, maybe it’s genetic etc), plus the cowbell. fun tune. see you still pretty anodyne

I feel like Tom wrote both Cut Me Off and See You after/during his divorce with Jenn tbh or at least drew a lot of inspo for some of that stuff. Really like both tracks but Cut Me Off stands out.

Mark's responses to Tom's verses in See You are my favorite part.

Yeah I’m really digging the effect they gave his voice on his responses.

Cut Me Off should have replaced Fell In Love. The trifecta of Dance With Me - Cut Me Off - Terrified back to back is insanely good.

See You would have been a better closer to the album than Childhood for my tastes. I'm super surprised to see the mixed feelings about these tracks.

They're just sort of generic.  Fine songs, just generic.  The rest of the album is always about something for the most part.

I agree with Cut Me Off replacing Fell In Love as the filler-ey upbeat song or w.e you want to do to explain it.  See You ain't bad just doesn't fit anywhere. BEST BRIDGE on the album though arguably.
