I’m not a fan of this streaming era trend of releasing new songs as a “deluxe edition” of an album they weren’t written for, but hey I’ll take whatever they wanna give us!

Makes me feel positive for the next album. That they want to go in fresh with a whole new mindset.

These songs are hopefully just demos/ideas that never made it too far during initial stages or songs they believe still fit the OMT vibe.

Turpentine was the first song they wrote when they got together and they knew they had to save it for the album, I’m they would do the same thing and save it for the future if they came up with another Turpentine during these recent rehearsal/recording sessions.

super same. hopefully whatever songs they release hold up, and aren’t just contractually obligated

If they release a bunch of Cut Me Offs and See Yous and call it a Deluxe I'll jump off a bridge.

and then swim back up to continue my posting excellence and to not upset Diddy.

I hope they release a bunch of Cut Me Offs and See Yous and call it a Deluxe.

Pretty sure artists do this because they contractually have to support x album for y amount of time before the label will fund a new one. Creating a large release for a band of blinks size is definitely a multi million dollar investment from the production costs of the album, the marketing, the tour organization, opportunity cost of label resources building the album cycle. It’s way cheaper to extend that investment with a deluxe where tons of stuff doesn’t have to be redone yet and you’re still touring the album. Like entertainment and reusing IP / assets getting as much out of them as you can before you start fresh funding from scratch again.

See Cali deluxe, they could have marketed that as a whole new album if there wasn’t so much that goes into album creation besides the music, but it was likely way cheaper to create a deluxe and what the label was willing to offer in support resources

Releasing a deluxe almost a year later is weird to me. Just put out a damn EP if that's the case. I wonder if they put any live tracks with it maybe especially since Mark posted Going Away to College live track and Tom Posted Not Now live.

Cut Me Off is a banger, don't care. Would be a ~top 5 song if it appeared on Neighborhoods or Nine

lol saying anything would be a top 5 song on Nine isn’t really that great of a compliment

But it's true. Cut Me Off is better than any Skiba era song.

I would suspect that deluxes perform better than EP’s. If they go to the album they already know that is popular in streaming it’s all there, versus an EP the person has to seek out.

That is not true at all. I can think of several Skiba era songs that are 10x better than Cut Me Off. Cynical, Bored to Death, Left Alone, Long Lost Feeling, Happy Days, On Some Emo Shit, Pin the Grenade, etc. And that’s all just off the dome. Cut Me Off is utter garbage.

Also, Rick Rubin should produce the next album. Full, complete control forfeited to one man. See what happens. It's the perfect time to try it

Yea, unfortuantely I don’t think they’re ever going to stray away from Travis and the Rubins now. It’s a damn shame

I just want one album where someone can tell any one of them NO THAT SUCKS and see what would come of it. And not have 55 cooks in the kitchen along the way
