JarJarBlinks Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Not liking Carousel as a blink fan is such a wild opinion that you almost have to give him credit for being brave enough to speak it, lol. 3 Quote

Brave is a strong word. I'd argue 'stupid' would be more appropriate 1 3 Quote

Wow, this surprised me. Bad News for me is top 3 on OMT, easily. I love the dynamics of the song, Dude Ranch vibes, and bridge is amazing. 1 Quote

It's the perfect time to try it I actually think this would be a good/interesting match because Rick Rubin DOESN'T take complete control. He's the ultimate example of a producer who is just a facilitator and a shepherd who keeps the creative vibes going and tries to help the band be the most "pure" version of themselves. I've heard some really cool interviews with him about his approach, he's much more likely to say "alright this idea is interesting, but why don't the two of you go into the other room for an hour and come back with 2-3 more ideas we can try out and see which ones feels the most like Blink 182 to you?" than to be like "hey here's a chorus idea I have, I recorded it in ProTools already, let's put your vocals on it!" which kinda seems like more of the norm with producers nowadays. Anyway, specifics aside, if Blink ever works with a producer again it would definitely be someone very hands-off like Rick Rubin because of how much they value their independence now and how confident they are in self-producing. 1 Quote
