That chorus is gold. Love the ‘do I run’ part before the chorus and the ‘do you’ part in the chorus I love. Tom sounds great. 9/10 where's if you never left ffs Quote
Nosferatu Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Listened to all the new tracks. They're not great in my opinion. Feel more like filler songs that belong on Nine & California. One issue for me is a lot of the tracks have the same chord progression in the chorus. One Night Stand, Every Other Weekend, Can't Go Back all have that chord progression in the chorus. It gets boring once I've heard it more than twice. Can't Go Back is an amazing song though, so I'm always gonna prefer that over the other two If You Never Left had a lot of potential based on the previews but it's that riff in the outro of the song I loved. The rest of the song was just a generic four chord song. Everyone Everywhere is so close to being perfect. The chorus feels more like a pre-chorus than a chorus. There should've been a better chorus after that part. The bridge is amazing. Arguably the best OMT bridge. The only other gripe I have with the song is Tom's voice sounds really harsh on one line of the chorus. I don't like how it sounds at all. Another take of that exact same line and melody should've been used without him sounding so harsh. Can't Go Back is the best by far and Everyone Everywhere isn't too far off. The rest I can deal without Quote
Scott. Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 If you never left - the weakest for me, I do like when songs start with the chorus, that’s cool. I love the outro, it sounds really pretty but I wish they could have worked that into the intro or something. Love the bridge. Just feels like the chorus is lacking something I dunno 7/10 Quote
Bucko Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Mad how everyone's opinions are so different. That's what makes blink special I guess, different songs for different people. 1 1 Quote

fran.182 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 So glad we got one more great 80s blink tune with "Every Other Weekend". It's like "Just Like Heaven" melody (specially the bridge) set to "Friday I'm In Love" lyrics. "One Night Stand" is a banger and I love how specific the lyrics are. Just not so sure on the outro with the overlapping vocals... Those two and "Can't Go Back" are a step above the rest. Replace "Fell In Love", "Edging" and the two 30 second tracks with these three and the main album would be amazing. 1 Quote
WPGBlink Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 I can't stop playing Every Other Weekend.... what a fun tune. The back half of the song kicks ass. Somebody mentioned it earlier, but this could slot in for Fell In Love on OMT easily and be such a nice upgrade. 1 Quote
fran.182 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 "Everyone Everywhere" has a great song buried somewhere in it, I just think it was rushed. Seems like a demo. Finally, "If You Never Left"... I think the Autopilot break-up lyrics kill it for me. Plus, my favorite part (the outro chimes) lasts a few seconds. Bridge is strong, but sounds shoehorned - "All In My Head" and "Everyone Everywhere" had similar issues between some sections... 1 Quote
Man Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 trying to find the other songs but ONS verse sounds like an Alkaline trio song with Mark then the chorus hits with Lifeforms style Tom...meh. Quote
Knapppers Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 If You Never Left is so good. Really thought the snippet we got was verse chorus bridge, but it's really bridge final chorus outro. Was a nice surprise to hear Tom's verse and then a half time chorus actually works. 1 Quote
fran.182 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 blink-182 loves climbing fences confirmed: "I'm kind of nervous of the consequence, as we climb over the Neighbor's fence" - Teenage Satellites "Cut myself on the neighbors' fence That I hopped as the cops tried to take me in" - Blame It On My Youth "The tree, the house, we jumped your fence" - One Night Stand 2 Quote

I thought too and I wish that was the case, it would fit better and those magical chimes were wasted... Quote
Monkey Chips Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 So I saw on the Chorus forums that 'One Night Stand' used this riff that Tom came up with back in 2017 which is cool: 1 2 Quote
Man Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Everyone Everywhere...I listened to it once, that's all I needed from it..yikes. Every Other Weekend - it's ok. kinda went flat. If You Never Left - this and Can't Go Back are the best of the songs but a little disappointed. As others have said, am sad the chimes weren't used in more of the song. The lyrics in the verses are a bit undercooked in a few areas. These deluxe songs are all basically Neighborhoods tier. It's ok though because now they don't need to revisit these anymore for the next album! Quote

I must be the only one who didn’t think that with the snippet? I had no idea what you guys were talking about a bridge with that. Quote
2point5 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Poor Coight has gone to bed, as happy as a pig in shit, dreaming happy dreams about blink being back together making great music again, and now he's gonna have to wake up to all you debby downers whining and moaning about the new songs as soon as his back is turned. 6 Quote
