It’s fucking fantastic. It ticks so many boxes. Very different to the other standout tracks on OMT but so damn near perfect.

Love the guitar in the verses

I agree with you 100% but this is a complete 180 on your skiba era views. Back then you criticised the shit out of the band for writing songs about breakups, being young etc cause they’re older now and should write about that.

To play devil’s advocate, songs like that do feel more authentic with Tom in the band, since he never lost his immature, adolescent persona. Even during peak “I’M A SERIOUS ARTIST” era early on in AVA, he still told jokes about spreading barbecue sauce on his buttcheeks when I saw them live.

I agree there’s definitely a bit of hypocrisy, but I get why those songs might feel more appropriate now than in the Skiba era.

But also I’m admittedly a Tombot, so I can do plenty of mental gymnastics to justify liking this more than California.

Didn’t you hear about Tom and his wife being swingers? All these lyrics are obviously in relation to the rich girls he’s banging with his wife.

I’m ashamed to admit I googled this to see if it was true… I’m a dumbass

the only thing i could do without is Mark's metallic voice, i can't believe there is no way to make him sound normal?

true, his voice is shockingly processed throughout these songs. was there not a better take? can we dial back the perfect tuning?

What’s weird is that there’s moments (like If You Never Left chorus, first verse on All In My Head) where he does sound perfectly normal. And better. I don’t get the heavy effects either

All in my head is underrated imo. That chorus is fucking great

It definitely grew a bit after the rest of the songs were released. Fits better next to those than See You, Cut Me Off, No Fun as a more upbeat song.  Still just okay just not great.

Didn't he say his vocal cords were completely wrecked by the chemotherapy? I think it's okay if he gets a few touch ups here and there.

good call, i forgot about that.

We know they use a live-auto tune on tour but he sounds just fine, I wish there was a way to get rid of that metallic tinge in the voice on the album because I love his voice, but it’s alright.

I’d rather hear slightly off pitch vocals than flawless but metallic sounding ones. With Travis I think it’s more a stylistic thing though, like in all the modern hip hop stuff he listens to. Very electronic production, therefore electronic vocals.
