Sorry thong, I gotta agree with the Cowboys fan on this one.

Green Day were not on the singles chart before American Idiot. It seems they didnt even release physical copies in the US early on. Maybe that's why Dookie sold more than Nevermind cuz it qas the only way to buy the hits physicallly.

They had multiple singles all over the radio and tv. I don’t really care about semantics, they had massive singles long before American Idiot lol

They had huge hits on radio! But not on the singles chart. Nirvana had both.

I think I'm correct that it was a conscious choice to sell more albums as it doesn't seem like the singles chart is that important to alternative bands over there.

Basket Case was pretty big here and what got me to check them out.

Then you had good riddance, when I come around, welcome to paradise, brain stew weren’t small..

Just popping in to say Nirvana is worth the acclaim and their crossover success was the true breaking of punk rock on the mainstream level. There’s never been anything like them before or since. All of the records hold up, and they had more left in them. The fact that they’re a T-shirt machine only builds on the legacy — never before or since has punk been so widely claimed. And they were more punk than grunge to me from the sound to the attitude

They were all massive. You sound dumb trying to minimize these songs and how big they were. Longview was massive too and I believe I heard that before I heard Basket Case. Longview was everywhere

But did you buy the singles? I have two different editions of Basket Case and When I Come Around with different B-sides.

If it weren't for Kurt's 'Hey!'s I would regard them much higher. Another thing they have in common with Green Day.

If Green Day singles weren't out in the US, did you guys not get their B-sides until Shenanigans?

depends on which era of highschool.  Early on typical punk stuff (rancid, nofx)...later on death metal/grind and crust punk lmao.  Nausea, Crass, Discharge, Napalm Death, Suffocation.

crust punk is the worst shit ever and I am embarrassed.  I still like metal though.

BANNED FROM THE ROXY, OKAY
