I wish there was a deluxe version of the book that has all the fat the hoppusheads want and need.

It has to be a sex reference right?! Like if she actually had an issue with her vagina he wouldn't put it in the book?

Was so jarring to read. I read it like 10 times trying to figure it out. Am I supposed to be turned on? Shocked? Disgusted? What is happening hahah

i think it's just a weird inside joke that might sound funny out loud but reads very differently in print. i'm sure dan ozzi was like "whatever you say boss" but it definitely feels very weird in the book lol

Maybe Mark said something cool and Ozzi changed it to that to be poetic!

How can I walk into Meijer and buy Tolkien's Fall of Numenor, but I can't find Marks book? Outrageous. Three weeks in a row.

Did anyone else read along with the albums from the respective time periods?

I finished the book and played the Coachella performance and it was such a fun time listening to the full discog leading up to it.

No, but I did put on some porn and have sex on the phone while I read it.

Saw Mark at The Savoy last night. Packed to the fucken rafters. So good to see him healthy and happy. Wish he got a bit deeper into shit with Tom etc, a lot of the anectodes were kind of lifted word for word from the book - but fairplay. Just nice to see him triumph over everything. Dan Ozzi seemed like a good dude, too. Finished the book in a day - and I'm a Tombot

I really appreciated that phone call.

Bout 3/4 if the way through the book and loving it. Some interesting tidbits in it for sure. The scuba diving accident is wild, I can’t imagine how hard that would’ve been to deal with. Also hearing more about the first break up and just how Tom was through the whole untitled album was crazy.

Also kinda think Jen was/is a bitch. The bit where Mark could overhear the phone call of her bitching Tom out for having to deal with the baby alone when like, you knew what you were signing up for when you married and had a kid with a rockstar in one of the biggest bands of that time. Then to guilt trip him while he’s on tour.

I think it goes both ways in that Tom was also kind of weird.

Hard to say how accurate/honest of a depiction of Jen/Tom this all is. But Mark seems to let the reader kind of guess how far this all goes. When I got to that part, I was like "I'm sure the millions of dollars you have at your disposal is more than enough to take care of the Delongings". So was Jen really mad Tom wasn't pulling his dad duties, or just mad he was constantly working and misses him? I would assume it was that Tom was missing out being a father is what was the real problem. The theme of being in control was a huge AVA thing at the beginning. Hell, the band is weirdly named after his daughter.

Mark I think once talked about how Tom had a gf and he didn't in 98 and that was hard for him. He felt very alone. Mark also definitely noticed and wrote that when he eventually got a gf, he got married, Tom did too, when Mark had a kid, Tom did too. Which is actually kind of strange when Mark married a woman he barely knew (they started dating in 99, married by 00 is insane) and Tom was marrying someone he dated in high school (I don't know the exact details, but somebody online once said this and I assume it's true). Travis also got married around the same time and I don't know how long that was going on for. That whole thing was never mentioned in the book either. But anyway, yeah, I wonder if there was a rift between Mark and Tom when it came to being dudes in relationships and wanting to keep things in a equilibrium. As much as Mark and Tom were besties, you get the sense they didn't hang out as much as buds after Enema. Perhaps they were sick of each other to a degree. Maybe one was more dominate and that changed.

I kind of wish Mark would have talked about his acting more, that's kind of interesting. Didn't he take lessons and everything?

If Jen needed help with the family she should have hired a baby sitter not harassed Tom and forced him to quit blink.

Band is named AVA because he had to quit blink to take care of her.. Sad

Were the millions he was making on tour not enough?

Exactly. It’s not lost on me how Ghent, without any evidence, tried to paint the picture that Jen was the crazy and nefarious one. Almost like he’s a sexist pig.

Surely the Alien obsessed rockstar could do no wrong! Ghent has no clue what conversations and promises they had with eachother over the years that may or may not have been fulfilled.

Ya pretty sure him and Jen knew each other from high school. After reading the book, it more seemed like the break up was Tom wanting all the control and wanting it to be his band.

Mark even mentions in the book how it always seemed like they were in constant competition even with their wives and having kids. But then he also showcases how much he overthinks everything and how bad his anxiety was, so who know what the whole situation was like in reality.
