Na, I’m just saying…people act like Scott was impressive…no he wasn’t. If you’re talking about speed, plenty of punk drummers who were much faster AND cleaner (including Travis). Scott just wasn’t that good and people get blinded by nastolgia

I don't really think people think he is that impressive compared to drummers you mentioned. I think it's a mix between him being the OG drummer and him being kicked out in a shitty way. Are there people talking about how impressive he is? I mean I'm impressed because I can't do what he does, but not compared to Travis and Smelly.

I dunno, I’ve seen countless comments like “Scott is faster than Travis! Scott is better than Travis! Scott is best punk drummer ever!” Etc. I totally understand liking those songs better than the Travis era. I just find it funny when people act like Scott was a great punk drummer just because he did the same beat over and over. Tons of other drummers do that beat faster and cleaner with better fills throughout

I’ve always thought scott was average at best.  Goofy fills and hilarious China cymbals.  But that’s part of the charm Of his style and how it made those songs sound.

Does he talk about why he left San Diego?  Oddly enough that's what I'm most interested in getting the answer on.  LA sucks.

Billie Joe seems like the genuinly ok dude in that band. But who knows.

What’s wrong with Mike? He seems like a sweetheart. But yea you never really know with celebrities.

Yeah, he always seemed more genuine than Billie Joe to me.

yeah mike dirnt seems like the only down to earth guy in that band. not sure about billie, he seems to have had an absolute awful time with addiction the last decade or so, so it might not be his real self

i don't really care about green days music. never did much for me, but that's just a subjective matter of taste.. but i tried to watch them live at a festival but couldn't make it till the end because billies stage persona was so obnoxious and annoying. some people love that shit though, so for me it was another case of  "meh, not for me, moving on"....

His wife seems sketchy. Not that people should be judged by their spouse, but still.

I’ll never forgive Billie Joe for playing Hitchin A Ride for 15 minutes at the WWWY fest.

You shouldn't. That is a crime.

I will never understand Green Day's popularity in the US compared to Nirvana (I obviously like Green Day better). It seems like Nirvana was so much bigger. Nirvana had hit singles all over the world. But in the US Dookie almost sold twice as much as Nevermind. Is it about GD fans being middleclass and being able to afford the album? And more people pirating Nevermind? Whereas worldwide the two albums have sold almost equally as much. So Nirvana is much bigger worldwide than Dookie was. But Green Day didnt have a mainstream hit single before Minority in the US, but their singles were chartbusters in Europe. Whereas Nirvana had hit singles everywhere. Did GD not release singles in the US? American pop music is weird as hell.

(Maybe this post is more suitable for the GD thread I dunno) Always baffles me.

I’ve been going down the Nirvana rabbit hole the last week for some reason. Always thought they were overrated. I still do. With only 3 albums, only the last two are good…I don’t think they deserve to be renowned like they are in music history. Two good albums and not all of the songs are good on each album….and rock n roll hall of fame? Kurt killed himself at the right time. I’ve just been going down the rabbit hole of his life and what it was like for the other two members in his last days having to deal with him. I feel bad for Dave and Krist, especially for Krist.

Hitching a Ride is the shit. Sorry that you’d rather listen to some stupid space lord interlude for 40 minutes instead

You’re so stupid. Such a trash take. It sounds like you’re just talking about all of the generic and whiny wannabe punk bands that are actually just little emo posers that you listen to
