But that's because half of California is just Mark sounding songs, with glossier production. Otherside most importantly isn't about generic pop punk themes, it's about his bass tech, and it honestly pulls at the heart strings a bit to hear him sounding pretty genuine "see you on the other side' - with Mark being so close to death recently, you can feel that come out a bit, his terms with all that stuff. It holds way more depth than 99% of California. Otherside could be any Mark song at any time. Travis just ruins it with that damn loud drum sound, otherwise it's top 1 on the album. Also, have a freak out if you must, but Rubin, Tom's longtime friend, helping Blink doesn't bother me as much as 'outside songwriting teams' who did stuff for Miley Cyrus and feels more like Finn helping than that. Plus he seems to be way more chill and a general fan of blink than most these other songwriters and keeps Tom in check. Bottom paragraph is top-tier copium 1 Quote

Anthem 3 was a P-ubin song idea, Turpentine and Terrified are BCR demos from years ago that Tom is still dragging up from the depths. All great songs, just pointing out some info! When was Turpentine ever discussed as a BCR song? And the truth is that Terrified is not really a BCR demo either. It was created in like 2019 or some shit. Yea it has a BCR vibe but it was really overstated as being a BCR demo when it wasn’t 2 Quote

People (understandably) think Terrified was a BCR demo from the actual BCR days, but like you said it was something Tom and Travis passed back and forth several years ago, and since Tom wasn't in Blink at the time they toyed with the idea of releasing it as BCR. Just setting it straight for anybody who wasn't aware haha. 3 Quote
whales Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 we're not talking about the real problem here: Travis and his drum flanger. someone's gotta stop this guy 2 Quote

My goodness is it drastic to hear the differences between Enema and One More Time. 2 Quote

Coightstradamus Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 Neighbourhoods glow up is only done by people who got into the band with that album. Their opinions should be discarded. 1 1 Quote

It actually sounds like a real rock record. Guitars, bass, and drums all sound like real instruments. It’s a solid album. 1 Quote

I thought it was corny Mark kept calling it an ‘indie’ record but it really does sound like one, very genuine album. 1 Quote
JarJarBlinks Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 Neighborhoods sounds like ass. Mark calling it an "indie" record was his way of excusing why it was Frankenstein-ed together. I understand not liking the modern "polish" California and on, but it doesn't make Neighborhoods magically better. 1 1 1 Quote

thongrider Posted July 25, 2025 Posted July 25, 2025 Neighborhoods is kind of hit/miss like OMT. I will never understand the both vocalists need to sing on every song concept. The good stuff on that album is so good though. 1 Quote
