Mark calling it an "indie" record was his way of excusing why it was Frankenstein-ed together. I understand not liking the modern "polish" California and on, but it doesn't make Neighborhoods magically better. So I guess you’d rather listen to plastic/electronic programmed drums that are twice as loud as anything else in the mix, with shitty plastic guitar tones just as long as they tell you it was a BCR demo, huh? I thought Neighborhoods was lame when it came out…but looking back I love the production on it. It actually sounds like a real rock record. Guitars, bass, and drums all sound like real instruments. It’s a solid album. I wasn’t talking production just more overall enjoyment of the songs I guess. I still love the album and it’s a solid 7-8/10 but so are Cali and nine. Some people just glow up neighbourhoods higher because of a) Tom(see Jan) and b) their first blink album(see Jan). 1 Quote

I will never understand the both vocalists need to sing on every song concept. The good stuff on that album is so good though. when they over do something forcefully it becomes "abusive" like an abusive relationship its not good n is off track Quote

Jan Mortensen Posted July 26, 2025 Posted July 26, 2025 Even if I did ‘jump on’ as a fan at Neighborhoods that’s a weird diss. That would be a huge flex if anything. I definitely ‘re-emerged’ as a fan during that comeback, as I imagine a lot of ppl did, but no I did not start with Neighborhoods.. Josie/Dammit were my starter pack, when they launched on Youtube, I was always a decent fan until then, but I just thought they were the coolest from that point on and never looked back. Then I dyed my hair like everyone else during Self Titled to match the emo trend. Listened to that album on my walkman on repeat for hours. Pretty safe to say I was committed. Toypaj bonus tracks hiding in friends rooms all summer so our parents don’t hear them.. Good times. Also Chesire is fine but just before my time and not as good as DR (in my opinion) so I’m not gonna over sell it and pretend it connected with me yadayada the same way, that would be disingenuous. Nice try tho 👍 Quote

Interesting weird gaslighting through and through on here, to the point I almost feel many are threatened they aren’t quite as big a fan as me? I actually was kind of a random Always hater at the time. Love it now though. I always (NO PUN) skipped it for some reason when doing my run through and thought everything else (sans ILWY) were pure perfection. Violence probably goes down as my favorite song throughout those years and most played. Closely with Here’s Your Letter, FT, Easy Target, Asthenia. Quote

I became a blink fan like 5-6 years before you and even I don’t feel the need to lie and say I discovered them before Enema. What’s My Age Again? was my introduction to blink. Stop cappin’ 1 Quote

What’s My Age Again? was my introduction to blink. Stop cappin’ Nah that’s not what I said. But you might actually be right. I remember watching Dammit and Josie on YouTube a lot, but YouTube didn’t come out until 2005. Which is after Self Titled, and that CD was in my walkman on repeat daily.. Obviously ATST and WMAA were on the radio here and MTV regularly as well, but I wouldn’t claim to be a fan yet. I do remember going over to my neighbors house to listen to the Toypaj different versions and thought we were so cool. Did we burn Dammit and Josie off Kazaa/Limewire before all that? Or after? It’s a mystery now. Find out next time, on Dragonball Z. Quote
