Stop using backing tracks Jan. I’ll fill in and play backup guitar for free. I’ll do backup vocals too but you gotta butter me up for that.
-
Cobain did it alone for years. But he was a real one so he knew bringing in another guitarist was keeping it real and he would have NEVER considered backing tracks. If Kurt Cobain can put aside his ego and have another guitarist than surely Tom could…but he doesn’t care about keeping it real lol he’s more concerned with looking cool and selling T-shirts than playing guitar. You know I’m right lol

See, there you go, you’re an unserious person not arguing in good faith. What a big fat L you just took. And oh yea, ever heard of blink-182 before 2009? They rocked arenas with no backing tracks. You’re just a bad faith clown
-
Yea I did you dumb ass. Van Halen, Motley Crue, Poison, all off the top of my dome. One bassist and one guitarist and one drummer. And they actually have less singers than blink. They all rocked arenas for decades with no backing tracks. The fact you want to sit here and pretend bands didn’t always rock arenas for years without backing tracks is absolutely pathetic and a bad faith argument from the start. Your opinions on the bands are irrelevant. They all rocked arenas with one guitar and no backing track which according to you is impossible!!! 🤡🤡🤡🤡 So don’t give me that bullshit excuse. You’re a boyband fan and that’s ok. You’re just not a rock and roll fan.
-
Trash analogy. Funny how you want to keep moving the goalposts. Your main argument is that it’s needed for arenas but when I give a bunch of examples of bands with one bassist and one guitarist rocking arenas without backing tracks you cower like a little child. You can cope all you want but the sentiment is the same. A COMPUTER playing the music a guitarist fakes playing live is no better than AI writing lyrics or creating music for someone on a recording. It’s all fake and all lacks integrity
-
Backing tracks being normalized has already opened the door for AI to be normalized. The fact you can’t recognize the correlation has me deeply concerned for your cognitive health. Thank you for pointing out that real ones hire a Pat Smear though I appreciate it.
-
When AI takes over music I don’t wanna hear a fucking peep from you Nice nod to Littleredguitars2 with those emojis tho. Respect.
-
And I don’t play Xbox, that’s for incels. I have a PlayStation 5 like all alpha males
-
You’re being an obtuse dumbass. Backing tracks are opening the doors wide open for AI to exist because backing tracks are killing the integrity of live performances. Van Halen, Motley Crue, Posion, all bands with one guitarist who rocked arenas for decades. Those are just off the top of my dome, it’s an endless list. Your opinions on the bands don’t matter, they had one guitarist and they filled out arenas with one guitar and no backing tracks…which if I were to believe you, that would be impossible! 🤡🤡🤡
-
Except for you displayed no logic whatsoever. You claimed it’s needed to fill out arenas but that argument ignores the facts that bands with one guitarist were rocking arenas for decades without backing tracks. It’s not the got ya that you think it is. In fact, it’s pure copium. Pathetic
-
@Locean Breeze - Jan in the next few years when you start bitching about how AI has taken over music, take a long look in the mirror and blame yourself for normalizing backing tracks. You have blood on your hands, son. @thongriderand I’s hands are clean.
-
lol I dont agree with your reasoning here at all but at this point we’re just arguing over semantics. I stand United with you thong
-
Not really, most of their music sounds computerized. They aren’t pretending to be musicians their focus is singing and dancing. That is not the case with blink. And I’m pretty sure BSB had tons of live musicians on stage with them anyways
-
Anyways I’m not interested in having this conversation again. Backing tracks have always been and will always be lame as fuck for a rock back to use. The point I was making is that people accepting backing tracks as the norm for rock bands has opened the door for AI to intrude all over rock music. Don’t believe me? Check back in with me in 10, even just 5 years. Call me Diddy the Prophet.
-
What Tom does is way worse. Backstreet Boys aren’t pretending to play something they’re not. Tom used to rip on Backstreet Boys for not playing instruments so that makes him worse and a hypocrite
-
@Locean Breeze - Jan You’ve lost the plot entirely when you try to justify a rock band doing something because “ThE BaCkStReEt BoYs Do iT.” Smfh. You are to blame for AI overtaking music. Period.
-
Hahaha I wish I would have said this before because I was going to. I knew this lame excuse was going. You’re as predictable as a MAGAT screaming woke in an argument. The whole “tHeY’rE fiLLiNg OuT aN aReNA” excuse is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. You’re just going to act like rock bands weren’t rocking arenas for decades before backing tracks existed? That excuse is not valid in any facet. By Denny’s show, you mean the gimmick where they played two seconds of a song for a video they ended up scrapping? It’s understandable when Backstreet Boys are doing it. They’re not pretending to play the fucking guitar you jackass
-
Read what I said, pal. First of all, It’s a clear step toward AI. You’re giving the thumbs up to artists not playing real live music which is a clear progression to allowing AI have its space in music. And we can call this a progression because there was certainly a time that if a rock band did this in years past they’d get cancelled and laughed off stage with a quickness. Now it’s somewhat widely accepted. (There are still plenty of artists and fans who have their integrity intact despite people’s claims on this website). If you can’t see that progression then please don’t ever pretend to be a historian. And what’s the difference between AI and a backing track anyways? Explain. What’s the difference when it’s a non-human “playing” the music you’re hearing and the artist is faking to play? I’m not talking about some obscure piano backing track I’m talking about guitar backing tracks that play while the guitarist is not.
-
Nothing wrong with real musicians playing live music on stage. Making backing tracks the norm is a horrible thing for rock and will only push for more computers and AI in the future. It’s a clear progression
-
The lamest part of that interview was when Tom was slamming bands for getting extra musicians on stage… “just put it on a track dude” yea Tom….we know that’s what you do 🤣🤣🤣. Some people just appreciate real live music. It’s people like @Locean Breeze - Jan who white knight for backing tracks who are to blame for A.I. overtaking music. Y’all accepted this, not me.
-
Tbf if I became an immortal rock God off of playing power chords and singing about dicks I’d probably become whacked out too lmfao
-
Yea Tom definitely has some wacky beliefs lol. I kind of follow him when he’s talking about speaking stuff into existence though, I think there’s some truth to that mindset
-
You were taking a shit when you heard Anthem 3?

Green Day got that shit on lock! Stay mad, haters!!!
