  1. have they ever talked about getting stoned? i'm sure travis does daily (or once did), but i've never heard anything about mark or tom.

Tom mentions it on the Start the Machine Doc.

In other news, Disaster has come a long way since they debut'd it live. A lot rockier, blink sounding. Yet I was high enough to think I was watching an AVA video at one shot when it was just Tom.

    Also, notice the shirt.

  2. Hey now I actually somewhat enjoyed love.

It wasn't amazing but it wasn't that horrible either. It could have been a lot worse.

My only gripe is that the movie Moon did what Love was trying to do I feel but in a better way.

100% agree with everything you said. I thought it was kinda cool, watched Moon, realized Moon is Love only done better.

  3. You are wrong. Even if Brooks can do exactly what Travis can (which is ridiculous) the money paid was for Travis and not Brooks. Paying for one thing and getting another is theft by deception.

People payed for Blink 182 - as a single entity - to perform. That group held up their end of the bargain and did so. If for some reason Blink cannot hold up to their arrangement (ie. Travis not flying), it is their duty to do their best to come up with a substitute that can solve the problem. That's where Brooks comes in. The ticket stubs don't say "Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker Live" on them. They say "Blink 182 Live". Ticket holders paid to see Blink as a single entity, and they did everything they were required legally to continue their contract arrangement. They announced previous to the dates that Travis would not be performing, and although I'm not familiar with what processes were put in place, I'd imagine ticket holders could probably get their money back if they were they hurt over it.

So no, that's not theft. It's basic business law.

  4. This makes no sense. He should get compensation for a tour he didn't participate in because he helped build a brand?

So you'd be okay paying for an A custom Zildjian and getting a ZHT instead ? Get some objectivity.

Not at all. Australia isn't getting a ZHT version of blink. Brooks hits many of Travis' live "flairs" spot on. As I said before, I'm willing to bet a large majority of the audience doesn't even realize the difference. This board needs to get out of the mentality that a band, making money, would rather appeal to an audience big enough to sell out an area with hits, for example, instead of 100 nerds who know the band inside out that would be there and want to hear cheshire cat.

I'm more of a Sabian guy, anyway.

  5. You just totally contradicted yourself. First you say he is replaceable then you say it's not Blink without him.

So backout of a tour=He is replaceable

Getting $1.5 to do nothing=He is not replaceable.

    Objectivity=0

The fact that he has been a contributing factor to their success and building the Blink brand. He deserves compensation because he's 1/3rd of the name. However, due to his role, at the back of the stage, doesn't speak to the audience, the majority of people won't even know there's a different drummer there, and I doubt they care.

Get your head out of your ass before writing your retarded comments.

  6. In reality though, who cares? A drummer is replaceable, even if you're Travis Barker and have nothing to say 90% of the time anyway. I'm willing to bet a good chunk of those in attendance won't even notice it's not the normal drummer. Now if they had to replace Mark or Tom, they'd be in some trouble.

I'm not excusing it, it just seems like a lot of you are overreacting because you don't seem to remember that at a Blink show, people like us who take the time out of the day to discuss this type of thing are a total minority in that audience. It's about the music. If it sounds great, who cares? Is Travis going to get a cut? Most definitely because out of the 3 of them, he's really the only member of the band being recognized as proficient at their instrument. He helped build the brand name of Blink just as much as the other two and has every right to expect some form of compensation, even though he's not at the show. Maybe not $1.5m. But something.

  7. The minimum wage in Australia is $16/hr. Comparing prices between there and the US, where the minimum wage is something like $7.50/hr, is ludicrous. All band merch in Australia, especially at big venues, is around the same price. I think I've seen a $30 t shirt once, whereas $35-40 is normal.

This right here. There is a higher cost of living in AZ, and therefore a higher minimum wage. You have to remember that these prices aren't listed in the US dollar, either.

  8. this may piss some people off, but i don't think chris holmes is the answer to the producer problem with blink. they need an actual producer, not a yes man. i'm just not that impressed with anything he's done involving blink or +44. it's not all his fault, but i do think he is partially responsible for the generic sound new blink and +44 has churned out. honestly, i find AVA's sound more professional, which doesn't mean much considering the songs suck..but still.

bottom line: blink really needs a producer with minimal connections to the band but a feel for their past sound and style. they have to be willing to let an objective, unbiased professional guide their recording. i don't see them releasing anything groundbreaking until they offer up the humility, drive, and creativity required to push the boundaries a little bit and get out of their comfort zone.

Totally agree. I have to say though, the production quality of the EP was better than Neighbourhoods. Except for the bridge/chorus transition on Disaster. If Holmes was responsible for that one, he should be canned. Blech.

  9. As someone who enjoys rap, I think Yela absolutely ruined the bridge of that song. Personally I just don't like the guy's style and the bridge was pretty cool as it was. I agree with whoever said earlier that this could have been the most 'perfect' Blink song if it wasn't for that. I still really enjoy PLG when he's not in it though. Who knows, maybe it'll grow.

  10. Brae, come on.

I'm not trying to be a bad guy but this has BEEN the rule. Cauterize,  don't be a moron. The links being posted are files you can yes stream but can also EASILY DL and that doesn't fly here.

I didn't see a DL link, and personally have no idea how to go about doing it without one.
