  1. When you talk about Matt‘s contribution to the ne record the „problem“ is that we don’t know how involved he really was with all the ghostwriters...

The final product is good and I enjoy the record but we simply don’t know how much of it was Matt.

But yes, he wrote good songs in the past so he is definitely able to do so.

  2. Haven’t really thought about how hard the critic must have been for Matt following that shitshow of an album California was.

Good for him that he can now be part of a much better record. How much he has contributed to it is a different question.

It makes a lot of sense to play off the aliens thing when they're celebrating an album with a song famously about aliens and a huge alien-related meme/event is going on at the same time.

They could promote it in 1.000 different ways but go for the alien theme which is Tom‘s thing. Strange choice.

i cant deal with the pre-recorded stuff playing

its so corny and i hate to see matt's face being all blunt while theres that pre-recorded i miss you piano track playing

Yes! It’s such a weak shit to have backing tracks playing all the time. I like it when bands take album versions of songs and create live versions of them. Blink did that in the past, e.g. Violence...

Most bands will replace a member and make them feel part of the team moving forward and want to progress with them..or at least attempt to.  Mark just kind of went the whole YOU ARE A FILL IN.  I don't think anyone would like that.

I just couldn't imagine playing someone else's greatest hits for this long.  Enema tour would have killed me.  Mark needs to move on lol.

Kinda agree. The tour didn’t make sense in the first place. Wait for the new album and THEN start touring.

The Enema theme for the tour was a quick fix to push ticket sales which seemed to work.

Just got my first listen of the album, 2am here listened with headphones on and took it all in like I did when I first got dude ranch, enema, toypaj, and untitled.

HOLY FUCK, WHere have these songs been at in mark and Matt heads?

@Scott. you weren’t kidding that I was in for a fucking treat, this album is great!

@Cheerios4u98 After hearing this album I’m with you, I can’t wait to hear what comes next from these guys!

I don’t even know what songs to pick out as favorites, just loving the entire album.  Pin the grenade has the be the catchiest song this band wrote since untitled!

You know that the album was written with the help of multiple ghostwriter, right? 14 of the 15 songs at least.

well then ur a shit cunt lol

another non sensical response as usual

every song on california including almost all the b-sides sound unique and distinctfull

where most songs on this new generic album sound just like any other low end songs

aside of happy days and heaven

Don‘t know what you are hearing but California is a bunch of overproduced generic noise while Nine at least has its moments of greatness.

That's fair, I do agree it's not anywhere near the level of Untitled or any of the original albums but it IS a step forward from California. That's what I hoped for and they accomplished that, in my opinion it's a lost cause to try to compare anything to the original albums anymore. I said the other day if this was a new electronic pop/rock band with Mark, Travis, and Matt, I'd be really stoked about it and happy for them and I'm sticking with that. The fact that they continue with the Blink name kind of invites impossible expectations so I try to only judge them by the music they have put out as THIS band, with this lineup. For me it's a big step forward even if it's not a classic.

    This!

It‘s nowhere near as good as Untitled or Neighborhoods, but it has more good songs than California on it and is overall a step in the right direction.

sure. and i listen to tons and tons of other genres and artists. my comment was along the lines of a.) i've never heard of this artist before and b.) i do not like what i hear.

Yeah I got it. Was just making fun.

I think Hoodie Allen has some nice easy summer songs. You should give it a try and browse a bit through his catalogue.
