Fahrenheit-182: A Memoir By Mark Hoppus (April 8, 2025)

Working from home is the best. Not sure how dying feels though. Maybe when my time comes I'll be like "this is even more awesome than working from home" but for now I'm team working from home if I can. -

Usually my commute is around 45-50 minutes one way, but sometimes it's like two hours. Sometimes my commute is longer than my shifts. -
Yup

Mike Love at a punk festival is something I can't wrap my head around.

Pogues without McGowan? The Beach Boys???

This I can get behind!

I do. I did actually put peanut butter on some of my crisp bread thingys too. I had myself a little feast.
-
I just did! On one of those Swedish crisp bread type things and not bagels though. Both chili jam and orange marmelade at the same time.
-
I always have cream cheese on my bagel.

I think the reason I like Dude Ranch so much is that I feel like Mark and Tom's songs were equally great. -

Dammit wasn't really a hit title meaning it needed the Growing Up after it as a single. Dick Lips could never be single material and was only released in Australia without a music video and no extra title, but if they released that in the US as a different title like Nothing to Do or Please Mom I think it would've been a hit. It seems Mark was prioritized when it came to singles. -

I wonder if 43-45 year olds are very into blink now. I always felt they were too old, but might be the perfect age. -
That would ruin the joke!

Pat Smear once played a song with Paul McCartney. I like to imagine Pat being like "I used to be in this amazing band, but in December 1980 the other guy died so we can't reunite, so I have to play in boring stuff like Foo Fighters to make a living. You wouldn't understand, Paul." I'm actually kinda pissed if he didn't say that.
-
Pat Smear did not need another guitarist to rock. People like Cobain and Grohl did. One point for Smear. .
-
Yeah, any rock band playing an arena is lame as fuck.
-
I would imagine so, but I think it's shitty if they don't. If Tom doesn't play it's just lame, but he isn't keeping someone from having a gig.
-
But if they're doing a live show they should hire live musicians.
-
Tom not playing shit and just pretending is better than BSB playing with a backing track for their instruments. Tom not playing and BSB miming is about the same thing. It's sort of ripping off the audience, but not other musicians.
-
Tbf I think using a piano backing track is worse. Using a guitar one is just lazy.
-
Backing tracks are inexcusable.
-
No thanks to extra guitarists and backing tracks for shows. A keyboardist or orchestra is fine.
