Please provide examples to support your argument. Style does not equal skill. There isn't too much wrong with it technically speaking, and if there is, I'd like to know what.
-
That is REALLY good man! Much better then mine. However, it does confirm that I am not really missing much and pretty much playing it right. Some people on here seem to think mine's missing stuff. What makes yours better is your style. My style is strange, and I think it makes me appear a lot worse then I really am perhaps. Speaking of your style, one criticism, you have very much copied exactly what Travis does in terms of your style, and there is nothing wrong with that. I mean he's a great drummer, and if you can drum like him, that makes you great. However, certain people who are familiar with Travis and see you drum, say in a live setting, might not care for it too much, especially if you have his setup, with the horizontal cymbals positioned in the same place, the horizontal rack tom. ETC But GOOD JOB

Cool, but.... Blink 182 section? Maybe?

I would take you up on that offer in a heartbeat if I didn't live 3000 miles from London.

please give an example of what I am missing...............thanks

Thanks, yep it is a rogers kit like ringo's, good eye. I know I do need to losen up. It's wierd when I am actually doing it I don't feel myself that tense at all, and then I watch it and I am like WTF? It's not that far off. The highhat pattern is certainly not right, but travis is not hitting a lot more then I am hitting, unless of course your referring to the high hat pattern which is just all over the place. And it couldn't have been a few years ago your friend got lessons from travis, he hasn't done lessons since 2001, and has stated so in many interviews since. So it would have to have been at least 6 years ago and back then there was a HUGE waiting list.

So I decided to learn this song and post a video of it on youtube. Questions, comments? Anyone want to try a do one? Keep in mind before you comment, that this is defintely not exact, especially with his little high hat things, that I screw up a few times, that the audio has a real bass sound to it, that my drumset is a piece of shit, that I am not the type that copies travis style so don't expect that, I have not seen a video of travis doing this song......so I am going by guesswork, but I think it's pretty close. It lacks travis crazy fills that he did in blink, but it is still a moderately hard song to play, or maybe I am saying that cause I just learned it a few hours ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHGrGsuR5mA

No he did a cover of reckless abondon i am pretty sure, he might have done more though I am not sure. I really appreciate the comment, but there is no way I am the best drummer on this forum. I am decent, but I have seen people on here drum who are A LOT better then me. I was self taught, so I am not a technical drummer, and there are quite a few limitations that come with that. But I have done well considering I have figured it all out myself. yea it was reckless abandon and the first half of not now. i dont think iv heard you play before sunnysewer, got anything you can show us? id like to see some. I am pretty sure you have..... http://www.blink-182online.com/forums/index.php?topic=40615.0 Your posts start a few pages in. But thats ok. Im thinking of posting some stuff later.

Like anything, there HAS to be a way to tell the difference between an original and a fake. It might not be the tape, but there is something. I know this cause I use to collect rare beatles records, and people would spend thousands of dollars trying to duplicate an Exact replica so they could mass produce it and make tons of money, but collectors would always find the differences. The trouble with flyswatter is that you dealing with a tape that few have seen the verified real copy. And your also dealing with gullible teenagers, who will fall for shit. rarylando, could easily make a couple of those tapes and get great money off ebay for them. But I don't think he would be an asshole like that.

Wasn't Good Day originally supposed to be a Blink-182 Demo/Song
fElon replied to a topic in Side projects
I think melodically "Good day" is one of the best AVA songs. The first chorus is spoken and then the hook comes when he sings it the second time threw. It's catchy and it's not bad. But the lyrics absolutely destroy the song. It might be melodically good, but how can anyone keep a straight face singing those lyrics. I can see it being a decent blink song with better lyrics and perhaps another verse or bridge. I guarentee you if we had a lyrics writing contest on here to try and rewrite them, 99% of the submissions would be better then the lyrics that Tom wrote for it. -
There is NO POINT in trying to define emo anymore or trying to put any band into any genre. Since emo has such negative connotations now, people will try to argue why anyband isn't emo. It's pointless. Your better off saying, you just don't like these bands, and leave the genre aspect out of it.

You like me? Cool Yeah I guess it was stupid of me to try and debate with someone he is pratically an expert on rare blink stuff. I had a feeling I would lose, haha. But that's interesting about those pictures. Maybe it wasn't an original I saw on ebay, it's been so long since I saw the auction I really don't remember, I have just seen a lot of fakes and I remember thinking it looked really legit. But wheather it was real or not, I am sure a couple real ones have been sold on ebay. To kevin5064, lets see pictures, I want to see what a real flyswatter looks like and how to tell the difference between a fake and a real one.

I would just like to say I have seen a video of Ccon drum and I have seen a lot of people who copy travis's style and ccon is defintely not one of those people.

He could have the original flyswatter tape. I have seen it for sale. And don't tell me it was fake because it was on the SAME EXACT kinda of tape that the original was on and that you see pictures of tales from beneith your mom, chances that you could get that same cassette tape are rare. Plus they admit in that book that the original has been on ebay. But this was back in 2001 I saw, I highly doubt they are for sale anymore. It went for like $600 OK, just a few points... 1. You don't see the Flyswatter cassettes in TFBYM 2. How do you know the brand and version of cassettes that they used? 3. They don't admit in the book that the original has been on eBay 1) Yes you do 2) I don't really know the brand, but I can see the cassette and the writing on it and it matched perfectly. 3) Yes they do admit it has been sold on ebay. I wish I had saved the pictures from the auction. This was like 5 years ago, I have seen a lot of fakes, I was almost positive it was the real thing. Ya know real copies do exist. And it is not out of the realm of possibility that people would sell them. 1. What page? 2. OK 3. What page? I know that real copies exist and it is possible that people would sell them, but I already ran a background check on this guy when he first made the claim, and that is why I said it was a fake. One is on page 21. I am pretty sure that is flyswatter and it matched perfectly with the ebay auction I saw. There is a shot of the artwork on 19, which also matched and looked real. There is also a shot of the budda tape artwork on 26. I thought that was flyswatter, but now looking at it closer it isn't. Whoops. On page 16 is where they say, making copies of it haunted them and then they cursed ebay. Maybe it isn't an admission, but I am sure it has been sold there. 99% of what is out there is fake no doubt about it, and I am sure this guys is. But I was just trying to make the point that real copies of it have been sold on ebay, but maybe only a couple and none reciently. I am sure your not going to find a copy today unless you are REALLY lucky.

I AM I THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD WHO GOT FUCKED IN THE ASS BY THE DATE CHANGES!!!!! I was all ready to go to the jersey show, now it's gone and I can't make it to the NYC shows. So I am fucked! I am not going to be able to see them after I thought I would. How much of a fucking cock tease is that? Whatever, years ago I would have been really disappointed, now I am just slightly pissed that people are posting fake tour dates and I am believeing them.

I think AVA will go on awhile longer. The record company needs to get more singles out of the album and I think they will do more touring. But if they don't pick up momentum, it might be it. Still the show cancellation is strange since a reason wasn't given except that "shit happesn". That doesn't sound good.
-
Thats a negative on the money aspect. Most artists have to wait like 6 months before they start seeing the money from their album. Nirvana had a record selling album in 1991 with nevermind and did tons of sold out shows in pretty big venue's, yet Kurt Cobain only made $30,000 that year. The following year he made something like $4 million. It's takes a little while for the checks to come in.

last time Tom pulled out of a concert without stating a real reason why (his voice went out the actual last time) was when blink broke up. im not saying that happened with AVA, just something to think about. seriously though, i foresee in the future, Tom leaving these three guys to just do a complete solo album, because eventually they will get sick of Tom calling every shot. Don't think so. They knew from the beginning what they were getting into. They are basically just hired musicians, no real part in the band. But Tom might be blaming them for the lack of success his band is having. Arrogant people tend to take the blame off themselves and put it on others. I mean if he thought AVA was going to change the world, then he is defintely disappointed right now, no?

ARE YOU FUCKIN KIDDING ME!!!!!! MY FUCKING JERSEY SHOW IS GONE!!!!!!

do you think mark and travis will mention tom in their thankyou's?
fElon replied to Alan Rickman's topic in Side projects
Mark and Travis are human. And when you best friend and bandmate of many years leaves for whatever reason and doesn't even have the balls to tell you himself, you natural human reaction is to be spitful. I would do exactly the same thing. Mark and Travis are no saints, but your constant love for Tom Delonge is quite sick. dont talk to me about loving tom we've seen ur gayass pictures of u looking like you're dressing up as tom for halloween and sorry i have the nuts to defend somebody i've liked for years, and i'm not about to turn my opinoin upside down based on one interview. if i can make mistakes, so can tom That was like that 4 years ago. That was a completely different time. I did use to look up to Tom back in the day, those days are over. I am not really basing it on one interview, I have been disliking things Tom has done dating back to when he released his signature gibson guitar. I can give you an entire list of things he's done that have pissed me off. We have had this debate many many times before so I am not going to say anything else. Good for you that you remain loyal to him, I admit he was great back in the day, but after what he has said and done over the past few years, I surely don't get the loyality. -

Your not the only one who thinks this way. Compared to stuff he's done in Blink the drums aren't all that great. The breakdown in the middle is a little tought to follow, but once you got it, it's nothing. ANd the little spish splash he does on the high hat during the chrous is interesting and might be hard to duplicate exactly yourself, but it's not really that impressive. Other then that it's just a backbeat. Still, it's beats out a lot of other drummers boring ass stuff.
