  1. You mean like vocal bridges? Because the "breakdowns" you refer to are bridges, they just lack vocals, at the same time had they added vocal bridges to all the songs you listed I feel It would have gotten old, I'm not saying you are wrong, I agree but only about half, I feel that some of those songs deserved an intrumental "bridge" to the songs. I also agree, that at least vocally, they could have done more with a couple of bridges. I also feel weird using the word "breakdown" with blink182 haha..
  2. This new stuff, isn't going to change, they spent like 4 years apart and they changed, but what we get is what we get. I am glad blink is back and I would pay to see them in my town anytime. I would pay MORE to see the pop disaster blink but it isn't going to happen. This thread is cool cause it shows old blink shows and the way things used to be, but the blink of now isn't going to change and I like them just like I liked the old blink, but the old blink is my fav.
  3. This song is great, it has a great hook and it is somewhat mellow to some of their "harder", faster stuff, but I like it. It is a great step in their careers, in my opinion, at leat until I can hear the album, Commit This to Memory, is their masterpiece, I don't think they will ever top that album, but their last two have been "meh" to me, this sounds great and it has a great, catchy hook and hopefully, this will be some more of the motion city that I love.
  4. Man, a Sufjan fan? That is awesome, I like and find this to be one of the saddest songs I have ever heard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Q0ygyiyV0# It may not be sad but I love this cover, It is Seth Avett of the Avett Brothers playing Elliott Smith's Angeles, his voice is so mournful thats what made me think of it: the John Wayne Gacy Jr. song is one of the saddest and best songs I have ever heard, Sufjan is a genius.
  5. also, on a separate tangent, i am really impressed with Travis's drumming, in some songs its almost like its the prominent track but either way, it's nice to hear some NEW Travis and not covers of rap songs. His fills in this album are amazing and really bring it all together, of course did anyone expect anything different of Travis? No, they didn't, it's just nice to hear.
  6. in response to alot of the reviews of the use of synth I heard it the first time and immediately thought AVA but the more i listened the synth in some songs is remniscient of The Cure. I get that influence in this album quite a bit, hope I'm not speaking out of my ass but at least right now I can see the influence now really clear
  7. Absolutely, I have listened to AVA where it is clear that Tom used autotune but in listening to this album I get the feeling of, "Damn, maybe he really sang all these notes on his own" It's beautiful, it really is.
  8. I will say that as far as picking the songs that they did to release/play before the album was genius, they are great songs but they are each individual and really if any songs stray from the album in the slightest and cause you to have a preconceived notion of the album its the 4 they released/played live. I thought the album would sound similar to them and the album does flow amazingly well, but they are no indication of the true feel of the album, of course the closest was After Midnight which was released last.
  9. where is the "holy shit I can't pick one because they are all the shit right now and I'm overwhelmed to the point of hyperventilation" option?
  10. This album is better than anyone could've hoped for. My favorite thing about it is its sounds like they put time into each song and it wasn't rushed, they actually spent the last two years writing/recording this album aside from touring and stuff, which I appreciate. I'm not getting all the hate towards Fighting the Gravity but as far as a favorite song goes for this album, ask me again in 4 or 5 months cause it will take that long to pick one. Blink is back and better than ever! Today is a good day.
  11. the point of this topic should be; and there isn't anyone with ears that can deny that Tom is singing better now, for some reason, and that's great. This guy's voice has been shit since '04 and now he is singing decently. That is it bottom line, and I give him cred for it, whatever the reason may be.
  12. the itunes version sounds like the version on their site for stream. and the AVA prechorus sounds sooo much better when Mark starts singing along with Tom at "all these demons, they keep me up all night"
  13. agreed. i ve heard that Call Me Back could be there next single. The Strokes album Angles really was an "angle" because they took a different approach on this album. its electronic and nothing like past albums, but in my mind its still good.
  14. any one heard it? any thoughts? Very different from This is it and Room on Fire.
