To be honest JarJar, between me and you, what bugged me the most was that Feldmann saved all his best writing for The Knife. Which I actually liked that album. While didn’t really pull much out of his bag for Blink (which he really shouldn’t need to..?), but in theory I would prefer ‘another pop-punk artist’ helping curate songs with blink than pop diva writer teams or w.e started happening on Nine. Feldmann, unfortunately, I feel by his nature makes everything more about himself, than the band. At least for blink, it felt so off base, instead of feeling in blink essence. At least everything after Bored To Death. Bored to death had that essence, and maybe a few songs. In retrospect, Nine, and some of OMT made me like California more. But..I’ll always be bitter about how canned in and generic it felt, when you had Skiba + Mark teamed together, and Feldmann there to help reach a finish line. It should have been deeper writing, it wasn’t. And in all honesty, I blame Mark more than Feldmann for letting that happen and go in the direction it did. Mark could have very easily just vetoed Feldmann’s decision to scrap everything they had written prior to the Feldmann sessions. I’m not saying Hey I’m Sorry was a great song, but the essence was there. also fuck Feldmann for the Whoa, Nana fest he tried popularizing so desperately. Shit got me heated more than 15 yr olds beating up on me in video games and talking trash in the mic when I’m just trying to decompress from work on a Tuesday.

This is clearly a Feldmann factory song if I’ve heard one. Therefore it wouldn’t be on OMT. next

This song sucks.

Anyways.

In honor of Kay having such better sensibilities than @Russel Coightwhen it comes to blink this just came on at our family dinner and we jammed out

I don’t get the problem with falling in love with Blaze to an absurd degree. It was a mesmerizing experience. Also Kay is one of the biggest Alkaline Trio fans on the board pretty sure and wanted Skiba out of blink so that should say something about how bad the experiment was.

Nothing edgier than preferring Matt Skiba, Cheshire Cat and California Deluxe being your two favorite albums.

You were probably thinking of Carousel lol.

Wtf? Now just making shit up? DR is my #1-2 lock.

What are you talking about, honestly? Why are you so angsty? Summer heat in Aus that bad? We were speculating the songwriting credits on the post you quoted, it would be weird if that was for OMT (the song) that had like 5 lyrics. They do credit ppl like mad now because that’s how they get paid on streaming, both can be true. #notgivingintodrama

This seems like yet another reach. We were all speculating at the time what was going on. I don’t know why it’s so hard for you to understand/cope with how longtime blink fans feel about the Cali era albums, OMT, and songwriters deal. It’s been pretty straightforward. Call it a pivot I guess because you guys can’t hang with the real fans who don’t blow smoke on Cali era. OMT songs were better, had Tom, better vibes, some real songs mixed in, makes a huge difference. Yuge

Kay knows my musical taste too well to not fall for this. It’s my one thing she can get behind. Aka you’re fake news.

OMT + pt 2 =California + Deluxe but with Tom & Travis’ shitty production and generic filler instead of Feldmann’s shitty production and generic filler. +3-5 songs they actually cared to write about themselves + Terrified from Boxcar racer days. And some really good live moments (Coachella). is that what you want to hear? Pretty sure that’s been the basis from everyone on here. So as you can imagine, the latter is a lot better. But still far removed from their prime. Just getting 3-5 good quality songs is enough to at least take a breath of fresh air but still not what anyone is truly craving. We want all Anthem pt 3s or Turpentine type songs. Or Otherside and Bad News without Travis ruining it. Still leagues better than the horribly bland feeling California - Nine blink-lite featuring Skiba instead of Tom. How is this so hard to grasp? I don’t get it. Going the Maga route is unsurprising though.

It actually blows my mind these 2/3 can't accept some-many people just didn't like California-Nine. And has nothing to do with resisting change because of Tom. Many of us, if not all, went into it wanting the Skiba experience to give us new life. And it really just did not click. I don't get why that causes such a ruckus, replacing a lead singer is hard to make work. Especially in a tight knit trio like Blink. Resorting to everyone being worshipping Tombots in our 30s now is ridiculous..
