His only clothing company is Macbeth and that has run its course for me..too much of an Ava association for blink fans to wear often.
-
Did he say he was starting one? I hope so, but that logo looks kind of stupid.
-
hahaha thanks for posting that...It's always best when they joke around TOGETHER rather than just one or the other saying random shit (usually tom).
-
I like how he's posting Haven pics as premium content when Haven and Mark release them all the time in numbers for everyone.
-
Do you even listen to Rancid? He hasn't been featured in years... Freeman is the fucking man and an amazing bassist.
-
I think Mark's voice has changed A LOT since the last blink album...It's way more whiny and high pitch than it used to be. Will be interesting to see how Mark and Tom's voice changes affect new shit.
-
Some of you are taking what I said a little too far. I actually do think the album will be released in 2011...I'm just not going to invest all of my hope into it because no matter what anyone says it is no guarantee this shit will work out in the end. I'm just going by the clues available, which definitely suggest (at this point) that they are not very close anymore. It's hard to write and record an album with people you aren't close and totally comfortable with. The first tour was supposed to bring them together as a band. Time will tell if it actually did. The blinkumentary might shed a lot of light on the situation.
-
Tour sold well. No financial reason to release it. and/or it sucked or sounded to AVAish for them to comfortably release it as the first new blink song. Nope. Cause to me, you can't name one bad blink-182 song. That's what made them my all time favorite band. They were the only band I could literally sit there for hours listening to without needing to change the song. I'm not scared for one second I'm not gonna love every song off the new record. Separate they're not great but together they're fucking amazing. Fact. This.
-
I don't think anyone has said they don't think there will be a new album. We all do, but people are getting skeptical of the situation in general. And for the record, I was calling the blink reunion from the start. Even before the plane crash it was starting to get obvious that Tom missed it. I've been one of the most optimistic people about the situation, but that was before an entire year passed with basically nothing.
-
Yeah, but in Tom's mind will it ever be "acceptable" to ditch AVA and only be in blink? I think he's invested way too much time, effort, emotion, and hope into the project. Not to mention the three other guys whose careers are forever altered. I think he has too much pride to ever let it go.
-
I agree that we'll get one, my main point is that it's no guarantee with these guys...which sucks. I also think that unless something drastic happens emotionally, the next blink album will be the final blink album.
-
Good post, I agree with almost everything you said. My hope is this: blink takes their time, releases a kick ass album, and it rejuvenates all three of them to the point that blink will once again be their primary focus.
-
So what in the last 30 days has changed, Ghent? In reality you're pulling that number out of your ass and have no fucking idea what you're talking about. In the last 30 days there is no blink talk and no one seems to be excited about anything. Tom still talks about his movie all the time and recently said he's gonna release a double album for it and tour south america before years end. I might be pulling it out of my ass, but considering they tweet about rehearsal almost every time they do it I'd assume they'd also tweet if they were recording. People said the same thing before, during, and after the North American tour.."oh you guys don't know shit...they're totally recording behind the scenes and definitely wrote the album on tour..blah blah". And look how that turned out?
-
Yeah I agree with that, but let's make that the last money remark in this thread for the sake of some fresh debate.
-
blink-182 recording today. new album type stuff. 12:32 PM Jun 29th via TweetDeck Super fun blink-182 rehearsal! 5:11 PM Jul 5th via Osfoora HD Well, us playing that one show is actually a big deal for Blink-182 because it’s the only show we're playing [this year] in North America. We're going to be in the studio for the rest of the year recording the [new Blink-182] album. Those are month old quotes and regarding the last one, they also said they would be in studio all through June and July. In reality they were only in studio probably like 2-3 days. Further shows that what they plan and say they are going to do never happens.

I feel like that hardly makes sense arguing with his statement. We'll get one more blink album and that'll be that. I guarantee that. We'll get one more album cause they're too far into their promise of putting an album out they can't not. I hope that's true, but I thought the same about Up All Night...That was pretty much a promise/guarantee too! Last time I checked, blink wasn't an 80's band. And bands do release new shit, but not when they are involved in a million other things, don't live in the same city, and aren't even that good of friends anymore. Not to mention in other bands.

Yes it's pessimistic, but I've been thinking and there is nothing else to talk about these days. I don't think it's unreasonable to consider that we may never hear another blink album... Think about it. All blink is doing at this point is rehearsing, not writing or recording. Not a single one of them has hinted that they are having fun doing it, either. (For example, when Travis tweets about it he says, "blink rehearsal." When he talks about other things he's working on he gets all gangster and excited sounding, like "TRAN$PLANTS TUESDAYS!!") Basically, it just seems to be happening, and that is that... After they're done rehearsing they will leave for Europe. Considering no writing or recording was done during the huge American tour, I doubt any will be done in Europe. Then, they will return from Europe with about 1000 things sitting on their respective plates. First off there will be a 2-3 week break, there always is after Tom tours. Then Mark will need to film and help edit episodes for his show and promote that (starts in September). Tom will be ready to finish/release/promote the movie he has been working on for YEARS. Travis will be ready to release/promote his solo album. I don't see how they could possible write and record an album with all of that other shit going on. Time will pass, they could drift further apart again (don't seem to be very close anyway) and blink will be in the background "ready to begin". By the time all three of them are willing and available to work together and put in enough time to finish an album, none of them may care that much anymore (especially Tom and Travis). I always try to be optimistic, especially with blink because the band is my passion. But using all evidence and logic available, I just don't see how this is guaranteed to work (especially anytime in the near future). If too much time is taken after the European tour, Tom will just start working on a new AVA album or tour. Just something to talk about though. I'm worried it will all just disappear for months after the Euro Tour and fade into nothing, just like it did after the last tour.

It was built on an erroneous premise: the idea that bands would release their music on modlife for subscribers. Not even Tom attempted this, let alone other bands. Why would casual fans want to pay so much money to HAPPEN to catch someone on a webcam with a thousand people typing shit in at once? It's not an intimate band/fan connection at all. You could do it for free on a personal website. There's no reason to pay. Maybe if he released a video everyday catching subscribers up on band related things it would be different. The way it's set up now forces you to be a nerd and sit in front of a computer screen waiting and hoping for an update. Why not record the modcams and put them on their page? The idea itself wasn't horrible, the execution of it was.
-
Korn is the only band not ripping people off on there. And that's kind of sad.
-
I don't. I think even if their were no supposed financial concerns for the film, Tom would still have reconnected with Travis considering he nearly fuckin died and blink would still naturally follow. I find it ridiculous to think there is any more to the situation than that. of course that was the main reason! but not the only one Definitely not the only one or the biggest, I just think it was a factor. And I'm not trying to argue or start anything annoying. Just give a one line opinion.
-
So am I, as long as it's musically diverse and shows his range. I won't be interested in 10 annoying rap songs with a drum beat that's too loud. me too, but can you really call it a solo album? Its more like a Travis and friends album. Since every solo musician writes every song on their album and plays every instrument and all. He's a drummer for fuck's sake.
-
I have a feeling Tom's blink reunion decision had a lot to do with the movie's financial situation as well...

lol LOVE pt 2? boy i can't wait for that... wonder what kind of gay shirt tom will wear in Europe promoting that..
