Genrewise Blink is closer to the Offspring. In most other aspects, blink and the Beatles are very similar.

The conversation isn’t that you can’t compare blink to the Beatles. You could compare anyone to the Beatles if you want. The claim was that blink is closer to the Beatles than the offspring is to blink. That’s fucking dumb, and not based in reality. Again, blink and offspring are in the same league. Neither are in the same ballpark as Beatles. That claim was based inside a biased person’s head who can’t look at anything objectively, and based purely on Jan’s opinion that he loves blink so much, that that means they’re some how closer to the Beatles than offspring is to blink. What kind of ballpark are you talking about though?

In terms of popularity and record sales? Obviously neither blink nor the Offspring can even come close there.

Blink is closer to the offspring in every.single.metric. Tour sales. Album sales. Popularity. Time period of existence. Tones and sounds. Song structures. Mutual friends and artists. The list goes on and on and on. This isn’t a discussion about Jan’s personal preferences. You don’t have to stick up for every dumb thing he says lol. I never said you can’t find comparisons of blink with the Beatles, you definitely can and I have in the past. Still, it’s not even debatable that blink is far more closely aligned with the Offspring than they are the Beatles.

I guess I just find comparisons from different time periods more interesting than ones between peers. Blink and the Offspring are obviously peers, but they don't really have much in common apart from that. The Offspring and the Stones are quite comparable though.

A lot of people think blink are the ‘Beatles’ of our generation, young Diddy.  I personally would say Nirvana, Blink, BS/Nsync, Green Day were all in the conversation for a while.  Blink held the most similarities though.
