that's a good-ass suggestion. for me: in love this way - descendents just like heaven - the cure
-
i went to a music festival about three years ago and i sat next to this old guy, probably in his 50's. he had two AVA tattoos, said he loved tom delonge, met him in an airport once. AVA does have a weird old people following lol, maybe cause they sound a little like U2
-
anyone think about the commercial prospects of this? i wonder what label they're gonna release it through, and i wonder how it's gonna do. if they tour with ADTR, they might connect well with the hot topic audience and actually make some money
-
lmao sounds like the author of that article drinks some TTS kool aid... or got paid some money to brag on about tom's pointless, money-losing endeavors to help promote his book
-
anyone else excited for travis's (long overdue) book? rock memoirs tend to be pretty engaing (read gregg allman's or slash's) and travis definitely has a story. and we'll get some great insight on blink, and potentially the disastrous reunion.
-
yup. they actually stood a chance at coming back and being huge again and it got flushed down the drain mostly because of tom. it took them nearly three years to release neighborhoods. the nostalgia ship that helped the tour make millions had already sailed on then.
-
that's the one! thanks kay. i love that photo. i agree with oliver, it's probably very staged, but it definitely sums up those last '04 tours pretty nicely
-
i wish i could find the photo of blink in their dressing room after a show in 2004 or so. it certainly looked staged, but badass nonetheless. i think it was the same night robert smith guested (wembley?) and i think estevan oriol took it. i remember mark sitting on the floor looking exhausted. it's like my favorite blink picture.

this shit's got me stoked. ready to hear some new blink
-
why does every TTS press release or whatever sound like it was written by someone who never finished high school?
-
absolutely, but i liked that song a lot and the video's got a pretty funny storyline.
-
1) this is a fragment 2) lol "conceptual album" 3) the billboard 200 you mean? where it charted at number 39 before dropping off entirely? are you blatantly lying?
-
i always thought this video was well-put together and edited nicely >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UGSPx8nJ-U

this was absolutely hilarious.

haha for real. the scott stuff is absolutely worth a purchase, and i think there's an interview with the dude from doubletime too, but that's about it. then it's like, "dick lips was released as a single but didn't chart. it was later found on this compilation." how is that relevant to the book? any info on why dick lips was chosen? almost all of what he said felt like wikipedia lol

Tom's plan moving forward with TTS (comprehensive thread)
boxelder replied to redhotbrianpeppers's topic in Blink 182
100% agree. it's being FUNDED by a major company, but tom hasn't signed a distribution deal or anything (as far as we can tell). almost all of the ultra successful movies this summer were reboots/sequels. hollywood's got a major originality problem right now. so a has-been pop punk guitarist comes in and says he wants to make his shitty vanity movie? no way. if it comes out tomorrow that poet is being produced and distributed by one of the big movie companies (warner/universal/etc) then i will completely back down. but as of now, there's absolutely no way $100 million is sunk into this from anyone. tom's just being tom. -
this. dude ranch sounds worse than cheshire cat (and that album was tracked live, i think). i've said this before: while i'm no audiophile/expert on production, there's something weird about the drums on dude ranch. they sound so canned and dry. and the mixes are super loud. which, of course, might have been what they intended. but i prefer the lord-alge mixes of dammit/josie over anything else.

i don't get this logic. if they had signed to epitaph, they wouldn't have made enema? i suppose you could say when MCA signed them they were more able to afford jerry finn (who no doubt had more of an effect on that album than they did). but enema seemed like the logical next step for a band like blink. i think even if they had put out enema on epitaph, they still would have been huge.

Tom's plan moving forward with TTS (comprehensive thread)
boxelder replied to redhotbrianpeppers's topic in Blink 182
the fact that tom got backing surprises and intrigues me; i figured everyone in the industry viewed him as a massive has-been twat. if this poet anderson film gets national distribution and launches on a weekend with little competition, i could see it being mildly successful. the books/EPs and all that though? naw. -
lmao what an asshole. i like how he says the decision to "stop blink" was over a year ago. why did he sign the contract then? why did he come out after the PR and go "no, i was booking shows, i love blink!" he needed money. he never gave a shit about a blink. and he got blindsided when the PR came out and went "holy shit, i just lost a lot of money."
-
i like champagne supernova
-
all of tom's PR shit is amusing. gonna only get worse with time, too, with how he blows his money. i can see blink getting together again for some reunion shows with tom in ten years and it making them all a shitload of nostalgia money, but the blink we knew is dead and gone. thankfully, we've got something better than we've had in over a decade. excited for the future of the band.
-
who's saying it's laughable? i don't like strictly pop punk blink. i loved untitled because it showcased a whole 'nother side to them. i want more slightly experimental blink, something like a concept album would be amazing. frankly, though, i don't think they have the chemistry together like they once did to produce something like that anymore.
