dildo69er Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 hi i was wondering whether anyone here could advise me on an amp my spending bracket is between 800-1200 im looking for something decent between that price that is loud and hopefully good enough to play live with thanks alot id appreciate any ideas/comments/suggestions dilly z Quote
CrackedSkye Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 what kind of music do you play, and what kind of guitar are you using? Quote
dildo69er Posted May 26, 2008 Author Posted May 26, 2008 im using an Epiphone Les paul custom with seymour duncan hot rodded pickups installed so it sounds pretty decent and i play mostly blink, ava,+44 obviously then theirs stuff like offspring, incubus, rise against basically pop punk and sometimes heavier rock and then sometimes slower melodic stuff so ill probably be after something with some versatility thanks Quote
:Tom: Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I'll do a proper search later, but at that price range look into Traynor, Laney and Peavey. Quote
bart. Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 For 800-1200 I'd say, get a tube combo. 2*12 will be loud enough for playing live and still good to practice (at home). http://www.guitarcenter.com/Marshall-DSL401-Combo-Amp-483125-i1393544.gc http://www.guitarcenter.com/Peavey-6505-212-Combo-2x12-Guitar-Amp-481433-i1145625.gc (very good metal amp) http://www.guitarcenter.com/Vox-Custom-Classic-AC30CC2-30w-2x12-Tube-Guitar-Combo-Amp-103130704-i1145849.gc http://www.guitarcenter.com/Peavey-Classic-50-410-Tube-Combo-Amp-481018-i1171338.gc Or a second hand JCM800/900 combo. OR this: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Marshall-1936-2x12-Cabinet-100197796-i1145894.gc with a nice head. Or you could also get a half stack, like: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Peavey-ValveKing-Half-Stack-485058-i1174721.gc Quote
radioactive tomdog Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 i use a marshall JVM 205H and i like it. i wish i could have gotten a DSL 50 but it is discontinued.... Quote
Chinomaster182 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Are those American dollars or Australian? If American i suggest a used Orange Rocker 30. If not then a used Marshall JCM800. Quote

bart. Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Orange is goooood too. You could also buy the Tiny Terror, but that might not be loud enough for gigs. Depends on if your mic-ing the amp or not. Quote
