  1. I agree with that Simple Plan comparison as well. I actually read something about them years ago, they said they never write songs for themselves but they write about what they feel their audience is going through, so their young audience can relate and they're happy with this. I guess it makes total sense for a band like Simple Plan but I don't want this from Mark. I'm not even sure Mark is capable of writing better lyrics anymore though because even the Simple Creatures lyrics are so bad, yet people say SC is the best thing Mark has done since +44. His lyrics used to be so clever and engaging, especially from 2006 to 2012.
  2. It's pretty formulaic but it's more along the lines of what I expect from this era of blink. Production wise I think it sounds better than anything they have released so far (Cali songs included) and it's quite genuine. I have been listening to it a few times since yesterday, while with BIOMY and GD I had no desire to do so. The chorus is so bland though, why do they keep fucking up the choruses? I don't like how it goes on repeating "happy days happy days" and Mark could have done better lyrically, but it's a nice song and I like it.
  3. Oh no! I thought it was probably back for everyone
  4. The Mark Tom and Travis show is back on Spotify, I haven't listened to it in years!
  5. His music is totally upbeat and fresh as if it came out last year. And every song has its own personality. You can't really go wrong with Paul Simon.
  6. Oh, you're right, I totally forgot about that guy uploading the songs and the first we got from him was Cynical but it wasn't released by the band.
  7. We haven't changed, we just realized that they have changed though, as they can't accept the idea that they don't have to satisfy everyone. They don't need money, they don't have that healthy pressure that may lead them to work in a more genuine manner, and they see an album as a product that has to please the customers. The only other time they have worked this way was for TOYPAJ, but that record came after a planetary success, they were younger, it was a different time, so I can understand it. All the other records have always had a certain expressive freedom, facilitated by the fact that the hype came from something else - i.e: Untitled: a long year spent living in a house pushing their music boundaries; Neighbourhood= the reunion. As for California, the curiosity for the new line up is why Skiba looked promising and this + the way they pushed the promotion for the album are the main factors of its success.
  8. That was Tom. I remember that on early June 2001 Mark and Travis were on TRL Italy to promote TOYPAJ and Tom wasn't with them because he was on his honeymoon, so they didn't play anything but the interview they did was cool.
  9. That's right , I can't argue that haha Ghent and Kyle were just talking about some kind of people who look up to him so I just chimed in with my theory about why they do that.
  10. But not everyone is like you. Despite being unbiased, Rogan caters more towards a lot of conservatives/white people. He also has that whole fighting/martial arts/mma demographic too and invites self proclaimed idiots like Alex Jones and Nick De Paulo so I think that sometimes being judged by your demographics is inevitable. When you cater just a little bit to the right, you just attract a cesspool of people. Then of course it's just a podcast, it's entertainment and he's good at doing interviews but his audience leaves me this weird feeling of bro-logic that I will always stay out of because it doesn't make sense to me.
  11. People with terrible opinions listen to him in order to feel like their horrible opinions make sense.
  12. these last few pages.. what a way to kick off the week
  13. Lil Nas X's song with Travis is out
  14. The thing with The Beatles is that the argument turns on the difference between personal appreciation and cultural innovation/influence/impact, and they ruled on all 3 (and I think that's not subjective.) This still doesn't require people to enjoy them by law or listen to them, but they have been important and objectively good in the cultural and historical context.
  15. And absolutely none of them sounds like blink in 1999
  16. That's because it's still Thursday there and it's almost 1 am here haha
  17. So awesome! It put a big smile on my face, you got to talk with the man and you rocked that phone call @JarJarBlinks!
  18. Yes, it is. He's still young and he has done so much with great bands.
  19. I ran out of likes but I was waiting for your comment Jan and I agree. As soon as I heard the song I thought about how you wouldn't like it because Skiba is all over the place in the mix haha
  20. I didn't know Ilan Rubin was born in 1988. I thought he was around Tom's age, maybe 4 or 5 years younger. Edit: Wow he also worked with Nine Inch Nails!
  21. Sometimes is still their most punk song to me and it's a full song, even if it's short. Enthused is another awesome punk song. Generational Divide sounds incomplete somehow. I still hope for a longer version of it, but I think it's out of question now.
  22. Oh God. This could have been such a great song, why is it so short! but I don't like Skiba here. You could barely hear the rest of the instruments when his vocals comes in.
  23. I love short songs but I don't want blink to be random and make a disjointed album where pop stuffs like BIOMY are mixed with short "punk rock" songs. Scott isn't wrong when he says they have no idea about what they're doing. And IF Generational Divide is just 49 seconds and it's good, then they'll have wasted a good song.
