One More Time… Official Discussion (Constant Tug and Nut)
Trainwreck replied to Kay's topic in Blink 182
Not a basement, chain of American Diners. I have no idea when the last time I ate at a Denny’s was though, maybe 20 years ago? Serious question to fellow Americans, when was the last time you ate at a Denny’s? -

My understanding is that apple ear buds are so ubiquitous, most modern albums are mastered with them in mind. -

I like Fuck Face and Turn this Off. They're short little punk rock / hardcore songs, they double as jokes but also give the album an edge. Other than Generational Divide, what have they done that sounds like this? Like a lot of people, Blink was one of my first "punk" bands but also the gateway drug to a lot of other harder music. As my musical tastes have broadened, it's hard to keep hearing All the Small Things for the millionth time, its saccharine and grating. Something I really love about this record is that it encapsulates all that blink has been and also what it can be. I like that their sound has grown with me. PS: Like this post if you lick butts -
I know they’re real in with Tim Armstrong but what’s Billy Joe’s connection the the interrupters?

are tickets still obscene this time around?

Pretty sure there was an instagram post from Travis during the making of that discussed using a double kick pedal for the first time on a blink record

Blink Wave Track Discussion

You nailed it, it’s absolutely new order bass line and with the synths… after a few listens this song is by the numbers but those two elements really make it some thing special -

It’s refreshing to hear the sound of BCR in blink. It’s one of the standout songs on this album and there’s a lot of magic moments on this record where you hear bits and pieces of what these dudes have done outside of blink fold back in -
Turpentine Track Disussion

This is the best song on this album. Opinion of fact. -
If you can’t decide how to feel about it, choose to love it. Life is too short to be hating more shit. My 2¢.

No one thinks you're cool dude.

Still better than most of Skiba's output with Blink though.

After listening, the new song is good but not great. Still better than anything on a couple of their records though (Looking at you My Shame is True and This Addiction). At one point I heard Skiba say he writes a song a day, sometimes I think it shows. Honestly would just appreciate a few classic Dan songs at this point.

Their last ep didn’t do much for me but man do I love Is this thing cursed. Can’t wait for new music from them and the way expectations work for me, if they drop something this week, I may end up liking it more than the new blink album

Seriously? Compare the vocal melody in the two verses and the chord changes “Late night feeling kinda lonely Drive home no one’s waiting for me I don’t miss the days before I fell for you.” “Checked out I’m waiting for the weekend Coked out it’s alright I’m leaving But I don’t ever wanna go” The two big differences are 1. the fidlar melody then moves up on "go" and blink goes down on "fell for you" and then they both do a similar descending thing and 2. the Fidlar song rips and makes me want to go on a bender and the blink song is I guess pretty good.

Yes! Had the same thought!! One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands! Side note: if you haven’t checked out the “acoustic” ep they dropped a month or so back, it’s fantastic. Fidlar classics but low-fi. I’ve enjoyed MTYK and DWM for what they are but some of the transitions in those songs feel forced and fall flat for me. This new one feels like old blink in that the verses and chorus arrangements complement each other and have an energy to them that feels like songwriting from Enema. Subject matter in the lyrics is a bit meh, wish they could combine this sound with more age appropriate lyrics but it is what it is. I quite like it and am looking forward to the diversity of sounds on this album

From a marketing perspective, what’s the incentive to release any singles once the album is out? Right now there’s hype and by putting it out there one by one, it keeps people’s attention, and keeps us engaged. Once the whole album is out though, why make / release any videos? No one is buying physical media anymore and certainly not a month after release, so it’s not like they’re moving product. Marketing in the digital age is all about building to the huge release date and pushing singles months after release the way the model used to work just makes less and less sense. I’m surprised that albums are still the dominant format and more bands aren’t pivoting to releasing singles and EPs. Put out fewer songs more often so you can stay on people’s minds and always have something new to promote

100%. Given that I stream all my music at this point anyway, what’s the difference between hearing it all in reasonable quality in order when it leaks vs waiting for Apple Music to give it to me a week later? It’s not like there’s liner notes or whatever that I’m gonna be reading. People giving themselves musical blue balls for what?

I haven’t but I gotta assume it’s more or less just horchata?
