  1. I heard blink was actually at the Colorado game 5 Stanley cup final...anyone see anything about this?
  2. Tom just did an Instagram live and pulled in four or five people to join and ask questions which was really cool. The most interesting answer he gave was talking about his thoughts on psychedelics and he seemed pretty well versed in the science and social philosophies surrounding them, but also said he doesn't do anything more than microdosing occasionally and doesn't use it in his song writing process. Also very cool to see how genuine and kind he was with the fan interaction! Good little insty live and reminded me why the personalities of the 182 trio were such a big part of the bands we like to begin with. Also I don't know why the new song is getting as much hate comparatively as I've found the past 3 releases to be snooze fests versus the most recent release sort of being a "Kiss With A Spell" anomaly in that imo it felt more left turn than predictable. Tom rehashing melodies is no new surprise though and I'll admit it pulls from his older stuff here and there but overall I liked the direction of it and it made me excited to hear more of the album.
  3. I enjoyed it for the podcasts and the behind the scenes video and access to the instrumentals of the entire library but there were so many other promises left unfulfilled. He even talked about releasing a only-punk/BCR b side album. The guy has so many great ideas in his head but his follow through really is something left to be admired now a days. I'm still waiting for the rest of the WDNTW acoustic album...something tells me it was just too difficult to make it sound good given the fact that the four songs we got took more than half a year to even record.
  4. To the point I was making before - a good frame of reference is this youtube page which releases a lot of new electronic music drops. Proximity has over 8+ million subscribers, and a ton of their fans have no idea who Tom or AVA is (especially when you go through the comment section). Tons of illenium fans, however. Cool to see. Also, decent lyric video. A
  5. Illenium has been a huge fan of Tom for a long time - a lot of DJs and producers try to float around popular pop artists and vocal acts in their live shows for an easy, crowd-pleaser vibe, and this guy would randomly throw in almost a completely unedited Adventure chorus into his sets randomly. Everyone knows as well as I do The Adventure is not really a song you would throw on at a electronic dance party show - so I am sure Illenium reached out to Tom wanting to do something with him based on being a fan alone. Unlike a few of the other comments, I would say Illenium lifted up that chorus and really did something great with Toms vocals mixed in with what youre hearing in a lot of contemporary electronic mixes now adays. Its a good blend of both genres - preserving the AVA style towards the front end and back end, while giving a really catchy and electronic heavy chrous that will likely find its way into more than just his own DJ sets. Cool to see an artist reach out to old influences and try to make them relevant in a scene that otherwise would absolutely not gravitate towards a now-Tom Delonge style vocal hook. Chainsmokers did the same with Mark Hoppus, and I think its cool to see artists reach out and see what they can do with vocals and artists that dont belong in the same arena. Also, Im ignoring Steve Aoki and his work because he is an absolute shit DJ and an even worse producer.
  6. They were planning to do a video for every song IIRC but the hype didn't really pick up on it. A lot of plans with AVA seemed to have gone down that route
  7. Tom Delonge just got the definition of a "white girl tattoo" on his freaking neck oh my goodness...
  8. That was dope, I'm a fan. blink not taking itself too seriously, as well as not trying to sound like a piss-poor parody of what they used to sound like. Instead, sounds like they're paying homage to the era they were and who influenced them, and I'm happy with that. Also, I think Mark sang the (2009....(teen)) in the first verse on purpose to emphasize the 9 lol. It's sung differently the second time around, and that was when blink was a shit show and touring with Tom - hilarious. I think it was a small nod to it, but not a dig or anything. Just having a laugh, like this song. This is what I expect out of blink .
  9. Dude, didn't you just ask for a download link to the Miley Cyrus blink song? Gimme a break lmao
  10. Was it the disproportionate head size that tipped you off, or the different skin tones on his deepfake face that clued you in? Or perhaps it was the quotations around his name in the thread title. Either way, thanks for the clarification there Sherlock.
  11. I prefer AVA over blink now but lets be real...all that was, was literally the same chord progression he's used on every single album since TOYPAJ on a synth pad lol...it was three notes. "OMG SO GOOD WOW"
  12. I showed by 30+ year old buddy who vaguely remembered blink a video of Darkside and he laughed his ass off. Couldn't believe what he was seeing. Showed him Kiss and Tell and told him he was the old blink dude and his response was "well clearly he made the right decision to leave". Funny hearing that from a fan with no invested interest in either of the bands - as Darkside is arguably one of new blink's best releases.
  13. Eh...no, I'm not lol. Both of em' are looking appropriate for their age - but if they're going to try and hide it, then they may as well go the extra mile and use the money that their earning to help out lol edit: I don't give a shit what two dudes in their 40s look like. My point was that Tom is hiding a very, VERY obvious receding hairline (who knew that excessive drinking and popping pills would fuck with your physical appearance in your 40s?) and that's it.
  14. Tom's receding hairline is the only thing that makes me overlook Matt's 20lbs weight gain in blink.
  15. I hope that's sarcasm - because if it wasn't, Tom has the right idea in doing what he's doing with his headgear. Guy should honestly just get hairplugs tbh.
  16. Well that was a nice big fuck you to Jenn lol. What an absolute rocket that chick is though, who is it?
  17. I said it when it was released, but it's so obvious Tom is talking about his divorce in this documentary. Made me feel for the guy - you can see his pain and his outlet in this interview shine through a lot.

    Nine Criticisms.

Unlike California, I wouldn't be horrified if a song or two from this album came up on shuffle on one of my playlists. This album is totally one where I can turn to a casual listener and say "Yo remember that band blink 182? Yea they're still playing, this is their new shit! Pretty catchy....not nearly as good as their old stuff though" and a casual listener would bop their head and agree. Which isn't bad at all - but...when it comes to old blink, I can show someone unfamiliar with the band a song from Self-Titled or a live proshot of Enema and say "holy fuck check these guys out they're fucking awesome". Ah well, perhaps next record. I still like Darkside, despite it's giant turd of a music video.
  19. Saw them at the now Rogers Arena when they toured with Weezer - definitely seemed like an opening band and a ton of people didn't know who they were. Weezer had the place packed too. They sounded pretty good but I remember before the song Sirens, Tom talked about sitting in a tree outside of a girls window who had one leg, and then fantasizing about making love with the stoop of the leg. My friend, after the AVA set just turned to me and said "What the FUCK was that guy talking about???" Great show.
  20. Wow this came out of nowhere - seems like almost all of his acoustic stuff with Angels does actually. Which is surprising, because they're always a pleasant surprise. Well done, seems like the band has some good chemistry finally.
  21. Bet he's really kicking himself for not sticking it out at least one more album with Thirty Seconds to Mars lol

    Nine Criticisms.

Great post, agree with almost all of it. With that being said, I can respect this album over California. California was a piss take on blink's legacy and to music, other than Bored to Death and Cynical imo. This album seems to gravitate towards what Mark probably envisioned blink was to become post - TOYPAJ. Which is fine. I'm happy that other fans are happy with it. But to me, it isn't the blink I grew up with and loved. And it's not even the pop aspect - if we all take an honest look at the band, blink has always veered towards pop. To me, this iteration of blink is following trends rather than being at the forefront of them. That was the blink I liked, and the musicianship I appreciated out of the boys. I haven't seen any of that in Mark for a long time. He's comfortable, he's settled in, and he wants to remain relevant. This is the result.
