A sampled guitar is not the same as a loop. 2. a guitar loop can be recorded by anyone, including Tom. 3. I’m not making anything up, you’re the one that stated that there’s no real instruments on the song, not me. 4. a session guitarist is a real guitarist, ffs! 😂 these all are things that have nothing to do with you liking the song or not, these are your own fabricated facts that I questioned. I'm not having an uppity studio production argument. Blink never used sampled guitars, guitar loops, session guitarists until Tom went off to bringing others to AvA and Blink went to Cali. I feel like you just don't want to accept the fact that ruins it for some people or are trying to do this semantics thing about studio production because you produce music.. it's very obvious what I don't like about it. If Tom wrote and played guitar for the riff here, which it doesn't sound like it, that still only takes the song up to about a 3/10. Quote

Unless wait... do you only care about guitar as an instrument? And you couldn't care less about drums and bass, Is that your weird issue here? You asked if you could love What Went Wrong.. that literally is Tom and his guitar. Your guys standards have just lowered significantly. Quote

I honestly wouldn't consider a loop or anything in their studio software a real guitar either, even if they technically are something pre-recorded. But I digress. Quote

My question that you very clearly drunkenly did not understand was: because What Went Wrong has no BASS or DRUMS, does that mean I can't love that beautiful song as I do? If not, what makes having no guitar so much of a bigger sin than having both no bass and no drums? Again, keep in mind your argument originally was that Take Me In has no guitar whatsoever, and that's why I can't hold it up against my favorite slow blink songs which again, includes What Went Wrong. twentytwenty Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Must suck for all the bands in the world that Tom aren’t a member of, according to Jan they don’t have real guitars on their songs Quote
Coddled Jan Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 The mental gymnastics to just say you have lowered your standards is bizarre. It's a very valid reason to not like a song, when Blink never had any of that from their entire discography pre-California. Quote

You are more than welcome to like the song if you want to. I'm just very politely telling you the reasons why I do not. It's a very simple concept. All members of blink played on What Went Wrong though, that's the difference. I don't like all these extra studio effects much, especially not sampled in guitar or studio guitarist coming in instead of Tom writing and playing something, personally. That's just not blink to me. Russel Coight Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 It’s perfectly okay to say you don’t like the song Jan. you don’t have to make up some bullshit reason like “tom didn’t play it’s a guitar sample” to justify it. Just say “hi my name is Jan, I haven’t had sex with a woman in years and I’m not a fan of the song Take Me In”. It’s that easy. 3 Quote

Since Mark and Travis are apparently in What Went Wrong (not sure if that's true, but they could be, someone is playing that oboe or is that a clarinet? Doesn't matter, I'll entertain that they're both in there regardless of the supposed contributions) and that makes that song ok as a slow blink song under your strange logic. Well doesn't the fact that Tom sings in Take Me In count as full blink contribution in that same vein? Hell even IF that guitar ain't Tom, it seems clear to me that Take Me In is more all 3 members of blink than What Went Wrong is. Quote
