The style/structure of the whole ‘you go’ ‘chorus!’ ‘I go’ thing definitely got to be eerily similar at times to Cali. Na the guitar is not very apparent at all. It’s honestly hard to tell if half of it is even performed by Tom. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to learn a lot of the guitars were tracked by the Rubin brothers. You can hate all you want, but deep down inside I know you know that I know you know it’s possible. Quote

Feldmann may as well have produced OMT. You can easily argue that OMT is even more "Feldy sounding" than California The biggest difference in the two albums is that Tom is a better singer and guitarist for blink. But the songs themselves are not some kind of drastic creative departure from the Skiba era lol 1. Those are huge differences 2. I agree but there were definitely a handful of songs that departed from the ‘formula’, and a handful > 0, another step in the right direction. 70% of the songs following the Cali formula definitely irked me some though. You can’t tell if it’s Tom or Rubin’s tracking something while Tom takes a nap on filling in some songs, yes. both those are better than what sounded like literal samples at times on Cali/Nine. The guitar was clearly more emphasized on OMT and you’re just being a nuisance to say otherwise. 1 Quote

Bucko Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 "You're so good but you're no good for me" the irony in this lyric. Skiba, incredible musician, grateful for him keeping blink alive during a shit period, but he was never the right fit and glad blink have acknowledged that no-one else would be aside from Mark Tom and Travis. Some great songs in the skiba era but thankful our lord and saviour is back. 1 Quote

His influence was worse than the production. Have to think he was the one selling the “whoas” and nanas and just neutering them altogether on any deep/real thought and keep it as basic as possible. I was referring to this. You put it out much better than me. OMT production and sound has been discussed too. 1 Quote
