For some reason I find the line "Where were you while we were getting high" to be incredibly beautiful. The whole song, really. But their Wonderwall song and the repercussions it had through comedy and cliches left a bad taste in my mouth.

Oasis will always be one of my favorite bands. I'm glad I've made it to one of their last concerts before they broke up.

i've only really checked out their first two records, but i really liked what i heard. and i definitely agree... champagne supernova is wonderful.

 

every interview i've read has just painted them out to be total assholes, and they appeared to fall off with that third record. i've heard rumors that their late output wasn't bad, anyone? haven't checked it out but maybe i should

They come across as very arrogant. They probably are. But I once met Noel and he was actually quite nice.

 

Really, check them out guys if you haven't yet! I have all their records and I actually love them all. Not every song, but every record has some seriously amazing moments for me.

Incredible band. Liam's voice at the beginning was insane. Noel is a genius.

They are arseholes but they play on it a lot. It's what people expect of them so they play up to it, they're very arrogant but in a fun way.

They were extremely arrogant back in the day, but they were allowed to be as they made the best music at the time. The whole 'we're bigger than the beatles' fucked them over a bit though, people didn't want to hear that and the press especially became a lot harder on them. Liam is still a bit of an arsehole, but by all accounts Noel is a proper nice guy now.

I personally love their third record, but it was just to overproduced/loud/long though, and it came out around the time Princess Diana died so the whole country was in a shit mood and didn't want to hear it. The next few albums after that weren't great, but their last two were a return to form.

Champagne Supernova first verse/chorus is one of the best things I've ever heard. Don't like the 2nd half as much but still a great song

It was kinda serious. But they pulled it off, I like cockiness, I don't mind it. You need to be arrogant and confident if you wanna be the best imo. They burst on the scene and tore shit up.

I've posted this video a few weeks back but it's great. And I love nirvana but he's kinda right, kids didn't need to hear that shit. Live forever is an incredible song imo.

Like Noel said, no point of being in a band if you don't want to be the best in the world. Best band of the 90s imo, had incredible b-sides as well.

Yeah, it was touch and go with Blur who are also a super band but when it comes down to it oasis were the dogs bollocks. Stereophonics were superb during the late 90's they're a close second.

Yeah I didn't mean it to come across that way. Had nothing against them saying that and I'm a massive beatles fan, but it pissed a lot of people off. Don't know why it did, as you said they were just massive fans of them.

 

I fucking love that moment, gives me goosebumps. That's what Oasis were all about man, amazing songs and massive cultural significance, at least for us in the UK. Also, Noel's guitar playing is under appreciated, so melodic.

Yeah they are unbelievably so british if that makes sense, I think it's why they were never massive in the states.

Yeah goosebumps everywhere man, noel is hugely underrated anyway, I think he's a genius, great voice, writes amazing songs and play the guitar like a god.

Yeah man Noel's a god. Not a technical guitar player, but writes incredible solos. DLBIA, Live Forever, Supersonic etc. Nobody could fucking touch him for a while. George Martin (the beatles producer), said Noel was the best songwriter of his generation. Pretty high praise coming from him.

He is insanely talented. My mother went to watch oasis few years back and Liam was acting a prick and stormed off stage and noel did the whole set acoustic, she said he was magic.
