I fucking love this album, holy shit. 

I know it's brand new, so I'm going to have bias (I'm sure we all will to some extent at this point).  But start to finish this is a blast, and I love the new sounds I was hearing from these guys, I love that even though the sounds are varied, it's all still very cohesive. And again, I'm no sound guy, but I think the production on these songs is fantastic, I think Jerry would be proud of Travis. Surprisingly, I would say that this album most closely resembles Untitled for me with the chances they take and the new sounds they explore.  I really didn't think they were gonna start this second reunion by doing more risky things (that all seem to pay off), and would have just been a safe return to form album. So glad that isn't what they turned in.

Let me put it this way, I remember the day Neighborhoods leaked, listening to the album, and enjoying it quite a lot, but I also remember being let down by that first listen.  Maybe that had more to do with being over a decade younger, and having hyped up a follow up to Untitled for so long in my mind, that nothing realistically was ever going to live up to those expectations.  All the same, I could feel the lack of cohesion, and immediately felt that the album had a very weak section of songs toward the end.  This time though, this album is strong from start to finish, when Edging is probably the weakest song on the album by a fairly wide margin (a song that I do still enjoy mind you), then the album is already a stronger listen for me than Neighborhoods is. 

I always loved Dogs Eating Dogs, that little EP gave me hope for whatever was next from blink with its core members.  I can't say I would have ever fathomed this being the followup to Dogs Eating Dogs at the time, but I would absolutely say that it seems to be living up to the high expectations and more that I did have for the band after that great release.

I can't sit here and say, this album ranks here for me for blink albums, not yet.  However, as things stand at this moment, I wouldn't say its unreasonable if this somehow turns into my favorite blink album.  Which if that does end up being the case, would make it my favorite album ever since Untitled has maintained that top spot over the past 20 years.  Some more time will tell, but the outlook is very strong in this regard, and I am so happy to be able to say that right now.

I don't post on here a ton but I've been a huge blink fan for decades. I know everyone gets annoyed when people complain about production, but I wanted to speak my mind to other big fans. The songs are incredible... I'm still processing haha... and not to reign on the parade, but I'm just shocked at where the final mix/masters landed on some of these. You can't understand half the lyrics in some of the songs... and don't get me wrong the songs are so so good I just wish this was mixed more like their last album together. But I love the songs, it's just hard to enjoy some of the parts as much musically because of the engineering. Like Terrified at 2:06 just distorts so much and to me not in a pleasant way... just feels like these could be some of the best blink songs ever but they lose a bit of aww factor for me sounding like this.

At the end of the day, it's still a leak. 

Can we leave the production moaning until Friday at least when it drops in proper full, high definition?

It will have come from the vinyl. It’s warm and boomy and that’s what vinyl does. When recording from vinyl you have to set the levels. The levels are too hot which is why it’s distorting. The finished album will not sound like this. It will be nice and crisp. So please don’t judge it on that. Travis has smashed this out of the park. Jerry would be proud.

Ah I mean I’ll weigh all judgments once I hear the final, but if I’m being honest I had the same thoughts on singles that have already dropped. Didn’t realize this was a vinyl rip it felt better quality than that to my ears, but I don’t have lots of experience with vinyl ripped to mp3 sound. Overall I love the songs so we can focus on that for now ??

I liked the Mark songs more than I expected I would.  I thought he would be absent this album, but fuck, last half of that album he brings some peak mark.  Even the poppy Mark songs like Bad News.  His +44 self showing up on Turpentine and YDKWG, MTYK are fantastic.

Compilation/homage album with a mature present.  Great stuff.

I think so far Terrified, Blink Wave and Turpentine are the standouts so far. I havent listened to Dance With Me since the leak, so im curious to see how that stands up

Truly never thought we'd see the day they put out something that is just as good as the music in their prime
