theedge00 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 So we know Green Day had their Glee musical based on American Idiot, but it was kinda cringe worthy and honestly, it hurt my balls. I was thinking, does Blink have enough material in their discography to create a storyline for a (short) film (so no musical!). Is there enough material to create a character with a compelling arch? It can get quite interesting with the material on Untitled. Has anyone ever thought about this before? 2 Quote
Ghent Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 The only compelling storyline would be about the rise and fall of Tom more than any character you could come up with to fit the music. 5 Quote
Chrisx37 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 It would be a pretty decent story if Tom's character got abducted by aliens like we always joke about. And then Scott Raynor could go on a quest to bring back the real Tom, while Mark, Matt, and Travis try to take down fake Tom and Rick Devoe. And then California leaks. 2 Quote
Kay Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Theres enough romance fodder for any half assed rom com, tbh. Quote

Melty Mark Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Spoiler Flyswatter, Buddha, and Cheshire Cat is the high school days. Boy and girl meet, they see each other all over the hallway, the two can't figure out how to speak to each other so he tries to be impressive with songs about the connection they have and about his lifestyle, with some littered dirty jokes to make her smile. Some fear of the future, inevitable adulthood pending that is so overwhelming that he focuses his attentions on the girl instead. Scene changes and they're best friends, hanging out in his bedroom and playing with his gadgets on the shelves, she does whatever he does, like drinking beer (maybe a leading joke here about "needing a girl he can train like her" for later), she's obviously interested but it's only apparent when he's looking away, tinkering with his guitar, and vice versa when she's checking her phone. Carousel, Time, Peggy Sue, Does My Breath Smell, Ben Wah Balls to close out this era. Then we move into the post-high school. She's gone off to college, he's back home, he's had a lame, short relationship with some other chick ending to start this part. She thinks he has nothing going for him, he's still holding out for the first girl. Pathetic. He rushes to her door as soon as she's home from school. Heartbroken, he meets her new dude, too. He feels a mix of rage and sadness at the years they spent as friends, why would she do this? A medley of Dammit, Enthused with Enthused of broken down and low-tempo. This fades into Boring as she has trouble with her incompatibilities, new dude just doesn't get her. Boy and girl fight, boy is sick of her shit and secretly wants her, they walk away, this part ends with I'm Sorry. Open a new part with littered bottles, random chick passed out in an uncomfortable-looking position, boy is nursing a bad cut on his forehead, broken beer bottle in chick's hand. Some of his gadgets are in this new place on the shelves. He starts tinkering around on guitar, Dumpweed gets tinkered out, referencing his earlier bond with girl and his current awful situation (he's still self-seeking, but he wants the girl badly). He ends up stumbling away to a party, he runs into her with her guy, and notes that he's actually a scumbag. Enter Dysentary Gary, he plays it at the party, and proceeds to drink, way too much. Enraged, he's actually drunkenly performing his "Party Song", while there's this dream happening in his mind of All The Small Things, an imaginary moment where they're happy together, broken down into acoustic. He snaps out of his stupor, she's furious, he can't get home, and she and scumbag take him home. They talk on his porch, Don't Leave Me. He calls a friend the next day about a job he'd mentioned to him out of state, he's had it with this life, he's moving. Going Away To College, he sings to no one. New part opens up. He's got a new style, very hip, writing about government conspiracy, Anthem Pt 2. Random, interesting-looking girls fill his head with nonsense about the world, he's draped on them and he seems happy. The audience may think he's doing better. He leaves the bar, cat calling to his friends, smiling, some bars of Give Me One Good Reason roll through, and then he goes home. A small shoebox decorated with dingy rainbow lights, a tiny tree in the corner, a phone call to his mom about how great things are, she tells him that the girl is back in town for good. He seems unphased, tells mom to give her his best. He then plays Story of a Lonely Guy. He sleeps, dreams about that party, he's watching as a bystander as he drunkenly flails, he tries to stop it but he's only watching, no one there can see him. He sings Rollercoaster as he watches her this time instead of focusing on himself like always, she's looking at the him of the past with an expression of sadness and defeat. He wakes to the realization that he made a mistake. New part, he's home for Christmas. He's with her for coffee, she thinks he's changed. He's a snob now about his coffee, and she just wanted the comforts of home, which he teases. She looks upset. This isn't going well, he ushers her to come with him to his childhood home. They joke about the old trinkets, inside jokes. He plays Happy Holidays, You Bastard, a song he wrote while he was away, see? He hasn't changed a bit! She looks at him, wistful and a look of worry crosses her face. She suddenly has to leave, saying she has a thing. He's packing up to go home, Every Time I Look For You is performed. New part. He wakes up in the same shoebox, the lights and tree are gone, he goes through the morning routine. This portion notably quiet and drawn out. He checks his computer, no new emails. He's wandering into work, adjusting his tie, and he nearly rams right into her. He doesn't notice, until she says his name. "I hoped I'd find you here". Obvious is performed. Scene cuts to the bar, he's there with his clingy lady friends, she's watching him put on a show, sweet talking them and them giggling and chatting about politics in Uganda, and she uncomfortably backs away for a smoke. He follows her, the women behind asking if he needs company, he brushes them off. He can't see her outside, he panics, checking his phone, and calls for her loudly, frantically running into the street to get a better look. Stockholm Syndrome plays. Snapping out of it, he hears her chuckle darkly in an alcove by the door, where she's watched him this whole time. "I knew you were in that douchey shell somewhere". He gets a michievous look and drags her out with him. They dance, the lady friends emerge giggling and stop in their tracks to watch, confused by this goofy, embarrassing guy who dances to music that isn't there, and leave in a drove with "whatever"s and "call me tomorrow"s. Lost Without You plays, he finally pulls her in and kisses her. This took me way too long and is super long. 1 Quote

bastard Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Most likely a teen movie à la American Pie considering their biggest hits are about teenage struggles. Quote
