New Update!

Saw this update but he's still a legend in my opinion!

"Yeah he ain’t interested lmao. Nice guy, just very private. Gave some mixed signals along the way, still occasionally speak with him. But ultimately he has no interest in doing anything public. However he talks to Tom occasionally which was nice to hear"

We all knew he wasn't going to do that, but I'm actually stoked to hear he's in touch with Tom ?

Whoa this is really cool and most likely the most we'll ever hear from Scott's perspective.

This quote alone shows why the original lineup was definitely not the right fit for achieving massive success haha:

"We are finishing the art work for our EP, it’s called: The Endless Bummer, it will be for sale on our site around Jan 19th, this is some pretty shameless self promotion. I sound like an infomercial."

This interviewer failed miserably.

Scott- “They are doing things that they wanted to, that I wouldn’t have done, and vice versa. Does that make any sense? Or do you need specifics?”

Interviewer- “I don’t want to pry.”

Dude! You are giving an interview! He offered to give specifics. You had the chance to get more details from Scott than anyone else ever has and you change the subject. Pathetic!

I agree he should’ve asked but it isn’t hard to read between the lines on that one.

Cool update!

I posted this on the Timeline thread but thought I might as well post it here ?

Here is more information from the source theclaytons2010 on Youtube :)

This was at the whiskey a go go in Hollywood around 2002 or 2003 ish. Can remember the exact day. We recorded this whole show and our singers brother has the whole set, I can ask him to upload or send me a copy We did record a demo with Scott and I have all the songs. We played with Scott for about a year or year and a half after he left blink.

Scott is a really humble dude and a great musician. I haven’t talked with home since we disbanded, college, families etc!! One of the best things that happened is that Scott was a big part of getting Soma reopened in San Diego while we were playing with him. Very famous club that a lot of bands got their start out of!

Anytime man. I'll try and get some of the Demos we did with Scott up. Always cool to see fans of his out there. Lots of rumors and conspiracies about him but he is a real chill guy and rips on the drums. I grew up a blink superfan and getting to share a stage with him all those years ago was awesome!

soma had shut down for a period of time. Scott had some influence in getting it going again with Len, who owned it! It’s still going strong and is a rad venue to play at and watch a show.

Here is some footage of One Track Mind playing at the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood (circa 2002-2003ish) with Scott on the drums!

Combined with the Instagram post that Thibaut posted above, he seems like a very chill and collected guy. About as normal as they come.

im glad that he got over his alchoolism and is doing better

I'm glad my adult identity hasn't been based on my alcohol consumption in my early 20s haha... We barely know anything about the guy. He was briefly in a cool band as an adolescent, he stopped liking it, and he started drinking a lot. Now he's some guy in his 40s. That could describe soooooo many people in the world who are not alcoholics haha.

I thought the same. He probably hates blink interviews because the go to topic seems to be his alcohol problem and being kicked from the band. I'm sure he loves to be reminded about that.

Robert Downey Jr. Had the same problem for a while. I remember him shutting down an interview because they just had to bring up his past alcohol abuse problems when he was promoting a film.

From Reddit (user Better_Combination67)

https://www.reddit.com/r/Blink182/comments/1owd2bb/for_those_wondering_this_is_what_scott_raynor/

I briefly shared a band rehearsal space in LA wt Scott several years ago (when he was drumming for The Wraith) and of course, couldn't help myself from fan-girling out at least a bit when I inevitably ran into him. I brought up how the early blink stuff was so influential to me and so many others and while he was certainly gracious, I did register a pained look in his eyes while talking about it. I left him alone after the one encounter.

I imagine it feels very weird for him to always have to talk about a band he was in from age 14 to 20 (especially one that likely screwed him over before making it big).

A fun anecdote!

From @oz1747 on Youtube

Blink came to our town way back mid 90s, needed back line for a show. I worked at the radio station hosting the show AND the music store supplying back line. The rider requested DW or equivalent.. I was green didn't know you just crossed these riders out. Well no way you're going to find a DW in this town to rent, I did however just buy my dream kit at the time , a Pearl Masters custom so provided it for the gig, I said to Scott "I couldn't get a DW kit but you can use mine, very similar shells to a DW, hopefully these are OK?".he said Holy Shit these are better than MY drums, I just ask for DWs just to see if I'll get them! SO Scott played my drums on a gig before I ever did. It's still my studio kit to this day...

I think 'late 97, or 98?? They were still doing promotional radio station sponsored shows which is why they were traveling without all their gear. I think dammit had only been out a short while at that point.Tom didn't even have guitar picks! I gave him a pocket full of Dunlap orange tortex I had just bought that afternoon too..

From @vincesalas5486 on Youtube

I met Scott once after Blink. His new band at the time was called the redliners. He was really nice. I didn't mention anything about Blink cause the shit had only recently happened. But a dumbass friend of mine walked up to him and said " Alright wheres the dude who got kicked out of Blink" i felt so bad when my friend said that. Scott took it like a trooper though and raised his hand and said, "Yeah thats me" and we all had a beer together
