Champ182 Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Just catching up here real quick: Dance With Me fucking rocks YDKWYG is great, but I agree the chorus is repetitive, and literally switching one different line in would have pulled it all together better. Ex) You don't know what you got/You don't know what you got/You don't know what you got til it's almost gone You don't know what you got/I wanna sail on a yacht/You don't know what you got til it's over (obviously not that actual line but something different right there haha) I have noooo idea how One Night Stand sounds like AVA? Olivia Rodrigo fucking rocks 2 3 Quote
Drama-Free Jan Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Why the fuck is All In My Head such a grower. I hated this song first release, it fits nicely with the others now. Intro kind of annoys me still (zzommgg guitar explosion) but the rest of the song is fucking solid. The verses ride like an older blink song. "I gotta sickening feeling! We do this night after night but now I start to doubt it" is such a good delivery by Mark. 1 Quote

Very relatable too. They should give you a writing credit. 1 1 Quote
Drama-Free Jan Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 The You Don't Know What You've Got complaints are weird. It's so intentionally repetitive to drive the point accross, the name of the song is literally that. The fluctuations in the phrase are what make it. I don't believe it's this lazy chorus at all, it's an artistic choice and a good one. a break from the formula Plus it sounds very personal from both of them, Mark's lyrics obviously, and Tom belting his feelings that came from Mark's cancer scare 2 Quote
Drama-Free Jan Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 'Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, we will never let them divide us" is the best line from the "Part 2" though. The production being better makes such a big difference, it's a lot easier to listen to on repeat. OMT is a gem, but I think this bodes better moving forward. I could do songs like this till the end and be pretty damn enthused. Quote

Drama-Free Jan Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 These songs are the closest to the continuation of DED we could have gotten? But with more modern/processed production. Quote

We’re drawing ever closer to Jan deciding Take Me In is an underrated classic and we’re all fools for not seeing it like he does. 3 1 Quote

Scott. Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Seems to be a lot of love for One Night Stand online. A lot of these tracks are growers for sure. Take Me In is the weakest by far though. 3 Quote

WPGBlink Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 On the topic of YDKWYG... That second verse of YDKWYG still absolutely hits like fucking bricks. Beautiful writing by Mark. 4 1 Quote

thongrider Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 Take Me In is playing constantly in my yead nowadays. Quote
Frank Woods Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 If I Never Left You Is totally stuck in my head: love the rhytm, the change of pace at the 3rd verse, the syncopated guitar solo at the end and the chimes' outro. Lyrics are simple but very relatable (and a bit painful). 5 Quote

thongrider Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 I remember showing WWW to people that didn't like blink in like 2003 and couldn't believe it was not a hit. 3 Quote
