I say this because, despite having a serious approach to music, on tours and in many everyday situations he always appeared as the same immature guy he was before. I think he wanted in every way to see the quality of his music recognized regardless of the fact that blink were so attractive because they were fun and light-hearted, and taking a serious tone was the only way to achieve this goal. I have the feeling that today he is in a position where he feels at peace with himself and has nothing to prove, so he re-embraced his origins. In this regard there is an Instagram post of his from 2021 in which he spoke of having been listening to punk music for some time and having closed a circle. I think this is spot on. Tom's change from Early Blink to Breakup/AVA/Reunion Blink was absolutely massive, he literally didn't even seem like the same person at times. But now, it seems obvious that he has changed quite a bit again, towards his fun-loving Early Blink days. There could be quite a few reasons for that, but we know that a lot has happened in his life recently - losing his dad, his kids growing up and moving on, getting divorced, finding new love and getting married again, hell even the UFO stuff going mainstream. I think he and Mark both seemed very insecure and uncomfortable in their own skin (in very different ways) as they went through adulthood. Tom desperately wanted to be taken seriously, Mark desperately wanted to keep being a pop punk kid. But now, it actually seems like they've reached a new stage of life where they're content, less defensive, have less stress, less to prove to the world, and have come to terms with all the madness they went through that kept them together and kept them apart over the years. Anyway I'm probably romanticizing too much, but that's the vibe I get from this reunion so far. I don't think it's for the money or even the legacy, it's also not because they're suddenly inseparable best friends again, it's because they grew up and have fewer dark clouds over their heads. They remembered that working together is what they do best, so they learned to trust each other in a new way and have fun again. 8
