  1. I get that music videos can't have the budgets that they used to have, but there is no reason they can't have the creativity that they used to have. It's pathetic and borderline pointless how many big name acts waste time making music videos that are completely generic. Video equipment and software is more available and less expensive than ever before. You can still make creative/funny/worthwhile music videos for your fans even if they don't serve the same type of marketing purpose they did on MTV.

  2. Does anyone even watch/look forward to music videos these days? They're completely useless in this day and age and lack the impact they had during the MTV era imo. Just release the music with a lyric video maybe and you're set, no one cares

  3. I liked that community thing with Happy Days, and I also thought the videos for HISALP were atleast trying to do something meaningful. But yeah musicvideos have become a weird media to work with in this day and age.

  4. I do miss the funny and stupid music videos like Dammit, Josie, What's My Age Again, All the Small Things, Man Overboard and First Date. But a couple of the serious videos are great too. Always has a great music video and I Miss You's music video is great too, although I do think that music video is weird as hell. I also think Feeling This has a good video too. The rest of the serious ones are trash though. I just hate it when blink are in the video as just the band rather than as part of the whole video. It's boring seeing a random dude and a random girl falling for each other when blink are just the band in the background. That's why I like AVA's music video for Kiss and Tell. Darkside basically is the same video as WYHSB by +44, only difference is that it has kids doing annoying dance moves and that just made the music video awful. SOOHM could've been way better if the 3 ladies weren't there at all and had blink as them, Now, have blink be the clothed band, whilst the rest of humanity is naked. Would've been way funnier rather than lame like the music video turned out to be.

  5. Without a doubt, without the videos of WMAA and ATST, blink wouldn’t have reached nearly the peak that they did. But that’s just how the music industry as a whole has changed

  6. music videos were fun and important during the MTV days but now they're pointless and cringeworthy.

  7. The only music videos I ever really liked were blink-182 videos back when they made them stupid on purpose. The last great one was First Date imo. Too many music videos (including blink videos) are just a band playing in a room and those are the most boring thing ever.

  8. sorry, someone here thinks AVA is bad so you have to too. I don't make the rules

  9. Sure. Up all night. Bored to death. Anxiety. Hallucinations. Pretty much almost any blink or Ava lead single. im surprised I’m getting push back on this this is how most music videos have worked until recent years where music videos don’t matter anymore. It’s a marketing tactic because you get the hype around the song release and then people get hyped again for the music video three to four weeks later. The lyric video comes with the song then the band goes and shoots the music video. These days there’s a lot more simultaneous releases especially with the large pop artists

  10. I don’t agree, they maybe matter for small acts but not for well established artists. No one would cry if they’d only release a lyric video. “I can’t wait for the music video” - said no one ever since 2006

  11. EXCACTLY. Its not really a question about the money but innovation and creativity. The Happy Days collab and HISALP is probably the cheapest they've done and still the standouts post Untitled in my mind.

  12. 100%! I was just saying elsewhere on the interwebs whenever I make a Sticker Strat replica (god knows when), I'll make it in its current condition with the black tape and blink stickers. Tom and his camp continue to beat around the bush and not show us a complete shot of the guitar, it would give people a clearer idea of what it looks like now. Plus as far as I know, no one has done it yet (chances are someone will read this and beat me to it lol) Oh yeah! I know Jonny Two Bags is Social D's guitar player (for whom the song is written), I was just jamming out to Live Fast and that's what came to mind in the moment.

  13. Oh for sure, in regards to getting the facts straight! I love getting it down to the T, I hate replicas that aren’t remotely close to the real thing. Whether we’re talking about instruments or sports jerseys. In regards to the name, it’s actually a reference to Jonny Two Bags, the 2nd guitarist in Social Distortion, and not the Vandals song. Although Vandals are sweet too!

  14. Thanks! All we want is to get the facts straight! I must ask do you actually have the blues? Does it make you sad? Does it bring you down? Lol I was just jamming out to Live Fast this morning. Fantastic album.

  15. Exactly. Boring to watch a recording of bands lip syncing. Pretty pointless if you ask me

  16. Yeah they either try too hard (pretentious artistic stuff - think The Weekend) or none at all (blink 182 - Bored To Death) The death of the music video might be the saddest thing honestly, they were iconic for so many decades. It was a big part of Blink too, all the way from Dammit/ATST to I Miss You/Always. I don't think they'd be the same without it.

  17. This was brought up to me by another user and its what prompted me to do this thread. I've heavily been into Green Day since I was 13, and given the gearhead that I am I was immediately drawn to the guitars. This thread is to basically document all of the strats that Billie Joe played through the years, starting here: 1. Fernandes Strat RST-50 (Blue) - Given to Billie by his mom for his 10th birthday, who saved up all of her waitressing tips to buy it for him. It was purchased from Armstrong's guitar teacher, George Cole in the early 80's. Sometime before or during the formation Green Day (then called Sweet Children), the bridge pickup was replaced with a Bill Lawrence L-500 Lead humbucker set an angle. This is what sparks the trend of the angled humbucker feature. This lasted until August of 1994, until it was replaced and unknown brand of a white humbucker (believed to be a Seymour Duncan) and was seen at Woodstock '94. This was then replaced again with another Bill Lawrence pickup (which can be seen in Jaded In Chicago), and lasts until the beginning of 1995 when it was replaced again with a black Seymour Duncan JB. Although the most notable thing about the guitar and what would mark the influence for countless bands and musicians was the constant plastering of stickers throughout the years. Featured on: Every record up until 'nimrod.' Tours: Every Green Day tour Photos: 1991 1993 1994 1996 1997-2000 2002 2005-2009 2010 2013-2014 2015-present These are the several backup strats for Blue, in order by appearance: 1. Black Fender Stratocaster (1992-1993) - First known backup for Blue, acquired in late 1992. It was a Fender American Standard Strat with a black pickguard, rosewood fretboard, HSS configuration, and a Bill Lawrence pickup, although this one is not placed on an angle. There were a few stickers placed on this guitar. It was only seen during 1993. Featured on: No albums. This guitar was only seen live. Tours: 1993 Kerplunk! tour, 'Recipe For Hate' tour opening for Bad Religion 2. Blue Fender Stratocaster (1997-98) - This particular instrument was nicknamed 'Frankenstein' since the parts for this guitar were acquired from various locations. The most notable feature of this instrument is the left handed bridge. Featured on: Touring guitar only Tours: 1997-98 nimrod tour 3. Blue backup #2 & Frankenstein #2 Strats (1997-98) - Also most likely parts guitars Featured on: Touring guitars only Tours: nimrod (1997-98) Blue backup #2 (top right corner) Frankenstein #2. There is some debate over whether this guitar was painted or left with a natural finish.

  20. This is exactly how I feel. I don't listen to NFG much anymore, but I absolutely loved them when I was a teenager. And I still love MCS, but I don't think of them as pop punk.

  21. While I definitely think NFG are more pop punk than MCS, MCS is a better band it literally every way so, this is a fail in my eyes.

  22. i have no idea how Weezer are able to churn out so many garbage albums and then every once in a while release something half decent.
