The blink 182 general discussion topic

I've always felt blink need to play the hits but not all of them. Songs like All the Small Things, WMAA and I Miss You are obviously the big 3 and they're the ones that always need to be played no matter what.

But I also think songs like Feeling This, Adam's Song, Not Now and Dammit need to be played, not because they're singles but also because they're fucking great songs. So that's 7 singles there. Not to mention an 8th single in Edging will be getting played and that's a song that seems to be a hit as well.

8 singles are definitely enough. I'm sure there will be another single from the upcoming album which will make a setlist featuring 9 singles.

Then there's songs that aren't singles but they're still popular enough like Dumpweed, Mutt, Everytime I Look For You, Carousel, Aliens Exist & Going Away to College. So it's not exactly like non-casual fans are gonna be bored hearing blink. They really don't need to be playing First Date, Man Overboard, The Rock Show, Stay Together for the Kids, Down, Always etc on every tour

I mean, kinda obvious, but Mark said in his twitch stream "you can suggest all the songs you want but we're playing the hits people"

What's the source on that? Kinda opposite of the initial attitude he brought to the blink reunion in 2009, I mean yeah the tours ultimately did mostly end up being just the hits, but the list of 30 to 40 songs that Mark posted back then that they had been practicing for that tour had a ton of great deeper cuts. They aren't even gonna entertain just practicing deeper cuts this time? Disappointing if true.

I was watching it when he said it and yeah he said we’re playing the hits people. So I doubt you’ll see songs like apple shampoo or a new hope

Honestly, no love lost about A New Hope from me, always felt like one of the weaker Dude Ranch songs to me, Apple Shampoo is always great to hear though, and its weird that Apple Shampoo is considered a deep cut when it was technically a single, though it is all the same, the most casual fans won't be able to sing along with that one, wonder if that would be different if they pushed that single harder back then with a full music video and everything.

Regardless though, the deep cuts I'm really wanting to hear now are actually Neighborhoods songs that they've never played live, specifically Kaleidoscope and Even If She Falls, I would love to hear live versions of those.

I’d love to hear apple shampoo! Here’s a sweet video from 98 when Travis had just joined, before Enema was recorded. A magical time in deed, no way they could have known just how crazy things were about to get.

Really I just used those two as an example that hey lets swap out some deep cuts every night for the die hard blink fan that's there.

Also interesting note heard Edging being used on ESPN's Monday Night Football promo video this morning, thought that was cool as hell.

They had an Edging promo during the game Monday night as well. It was pretty long too, not just an outro to commercials jingle!

Hahah this is great. It really seems like Mark has just stopped trying to figure Tom out and has just accepted him again for the weirdo he is.

And to Tom's credit, he seems 500x more down to earth than he did last time they were together.

This is fucking awesome. From about 97-01 they were legitimately great live and super sharp. It's a relatively short time in a very long career haha but these are the kinds of performances I think about when people say "Blink has always been terrible live, it's part of the fun lol"

interesting article w fat mike about their new song — the old blink song “punk rock cliche”, unreleased from 2016. i wonder what the deal was with the band dropping it? bad blood with him?

Very interesting, especially considering he seemed to be on good terms with Matt and Travis. I know he had beef with Tom, not sure if that impacted how Mark saw things.

This would have been awesome. The nofx/rancid split EP is still one of my favorite albums of all time
