as for them doing no press at all… big part of why i love blink besides their music is the massive amount of funny content from interviews and press. It‘s a huge part of their identity, and deciding to leave that aspect out completely seems like a stupid move.

do they owe me anything? No. Would i be more interested in them as a band if they would be more public? Absolutely.

i would‘ve completely forgotten about their comeback if it wasn‘t for this site. I just remembered yesterday that i bought tickets to see them in 3 weeks. 
 

 I don‘t think keeping their heads down for so long has any benefit for them at all…. If anything it makes me question the longevity of their comeback this time around.

Eh, the days of them actually being funny are long gone. The MTV days are gone. The best friends/funny thing worked in the hey day. Now it seems forced. I do believe Mark and Tom are on good terms now, but it will never be the same as it was. So I don’t really care about that type of content and if I’m being honest they’re really not that funny now.

I am too, I say a lot of stupid shit and think stuff like that’s funny. I dunno, I just don’t remember them making me laugh recently. They might have said one or two funny things at the two concerts I went to but the rest just fell flat.

My sense of humor is a lot more sophisticated these days. My political jokes have become more recent. Like before I used to like my dick jokes about Nixon, but now I prefer them to be about Cheney.

I think most artists in this situation just release the single out of the blue, along with the album release information, as one big publicity push rather than announcing anything in advance.

I feel like this is a bit you convincing yourself that it's ok. They've had plenty of funny interviews since the first reunion. Never forget the Winnipeg radio show one. I remember quite a few interviews that made me laugh with them. 

I just feel like they stand to gain so much more from doing a few interviews here or there then just being radio silent.

I’m not convincing myself of anything. They don’t make me laugh like they did when I was 14. And that’s ok, because I still love the music. Edging doesn’t really give me a reason to think they’re going to be coming out with a masterpiece. Nor does the fact that Travis is producing the album. If they were working with a great rock producer I would be a lot more stoked. So for me, I’ll just check it out when it comes. I also see the massively successful tour they just had in NA and realize they don’t need to do press to succeed. Times change and so do the ways big bands conduct business. I guess I’m just indifferent.
