blink182.net - Jan Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 They just did a major amount of touring, festivals, a giant album comeback and music videos along the way. I said before I could only see them doing an EP after this before taking another mini break (1-3 years, maybe more) otherwise what’s their inspiration? Their inspiration can really only be fans begging for an encore at this point. Let the man do his passions. It’s his time/money. Blink really just did their comeback thing and glad they aren’t forcing more tbh. I’m not good with second hand embarrassment. Quote
blink182.net - Jan Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 I am down for an albums tour though. Where they play like only chesire/DR one night (skip carousel) and Enema/Toypaj one night. Neighborhoods/ST. One More Time run through. Will never ever happen, but one can dream. Quote

Skiba would’ve done it Quote
Elisa Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 I'm not mad about this, it's the norm for bands to release an album every 2-3 years and disappear in between, I wasn't expecting them to jump right away into a new album cycle (and I would never force Tom to do that because you know what happens when they ask him to be focused on just ONE thing, it's a miracle he has spent two full years on blink) - taking a little break for a year or two while playing a couple shows in the summer is just what every band as big as they are does. 4 Quote

Ghent Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 I specifically said I'd have no problem with it if he could contain his side quests to a couple years. Instead, what happens is he starts a million projects and not a single one of them gets finished in that period. Then Mark and Travis get antsy and want to do blink, but Tom is balls deep in multiple stupid projects no one cares about. Then the band either breaks up or Tom does it half-assed Some of you must have amnesia lol Things could be different now that the bird has him shaped up. Hopefully he can manage his off time better than before 3 Quote

AmonRaStMAGA Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 He’s committing almost all of ‘22, ‘23 and ‘24 to blink. Most bands take a break after a cycle like that. The main hurdle the band will face is nothing more than communication. Unfortunately that’s been an issue for over 20 years now, so we’ll see. 4 Quote

Yeah, Tom has proven in the past twice now that he is a terrible communicator so not sure how the future will fare, but I'm hoping things will be better going forward. Quote
Ghent Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 No one cares if they take a break from blink after this run, that is expected. What wasn't expected is him to start doing mOvIeS and tV sHoWs and dIrEcTiNg again after 15 years of embarrassing flops. Will AVA get back together too? The never ending projects culture sucks. Birdie may be our only hope. Quote
Kay Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 Tom made a comment about all the music projects just being unnecessary and realising he can do what he wants through blink - not sure how true that is but it’s possible AVA is effectively done. Movies though, more of that horseshit to come for sure. Monsters of California being dogshit doesn’t seem to have phased him. 1 1 Quote
thongrider Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 I think it all depends on why Tom is doing blink now. If it's primarily a financial choice to be able to fund what he really wants to do, we'll have to prepare ourselves for lots of projects in the future. I definitely think if three of them prioritize the band in different ways they will always have issues. 1 Quote
blink182.net - Jan Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 They better have some good special effects after all that One More Time money. Quote
Ghent Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 One of the positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for Monsters of California praises the movie for being "refreshingly DEI free" (meaning mostly white people were cast). Way to go Tom! 2 1 Quote
blink182.net - Jan Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 You guys are so punk rock for telling Tom what he should be doing and not make movies just because he’s not Steven Spielberg? Imagine if David Fincher, George Lucas, Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino stopped making movies as soon as someone kept telling them not to? 1 Quote
Speedo Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 Robert Rodriguez should definitely stop making movies. 2 1 Quote

Hey it would be different if he hadn't already been attempting this shit for 20 years. This goes all the way back to WDNTW, he launched that album with a trailer for a movie that never came out. Remember the shitty video game style WW2 footage? 1 Quote

Dylan_ Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 I’m not a fan of his movies but if thats what he enjoys and considers it his hobby then more power to him. Even if they suck he obviously has the money to do it so why not. I suck at a lot of things I’m passionate about but keep doing them. 3 Quote
