They’re not though. Blink is Mark and Tom. Don’t give a fuck who the drummer is. Mark and Tom. That’s it. They have the blink name attached to it but they’re not blink albums imo and I like California. Nine is meh

100% this.

I don’t rate OMT much but it’s still Mark and Tom and that is the clear difference. Cali and Nine don’t sound like blink at all.

Even Tom considers them blink albums/songs and that’s why he’s out there playing BTD nightly.

It’s blink.

He’s just keeping Mark happy. He doesn’t wanna sing that shite

You were hyped as fuck when it dropped. What changed? No staying power? Shitty production and mix?

No, he doesn’t want to sing First Date.  He probably welcomes BTD in the set list.

it also has yodels.

The production made it hard to listen to consistently so I took the handful I really liked and shoved it on my main playlist, and even then I still skip them occasionally. I haven't heard the new ones and listened to the new clips, I'll give it a spin when it comes out but apart from that I'm not enthused. Still prefer it heaps to Nine and Cali but nowhere near as much as any other blink release except maybe DED.

When I saw them live that was 100% my takeaway. Tom seemed legit thrilled walking around in a circle getting to do the yodels.

It’s disingenuous as fuck to pretend to hate California and obsess over OMT. OMT is literally a pumped up version of Cali with better vocals and guitar parts lol. They both have the cowriters and OMT has even glossier production.

They both kick ass

Would die on this hill, but will probably get bored before any kills me because it’s too obvious to get that worked up over lol

I also haven’t listened to the new songs. At this point I’ll probably wait and listen to them in order when the whole thing comes out

According to that, Travis says HIS history with the band, which just cuts out a bunch of songs we want to hear lol.

Also, anyone who doesn’t even count California or Nine as blink album is a Fake Fan™️. Those albums are as much a part of blink history as any other, doesn’t matter whether you liked them or not.

Nine is a fantastic album with so much great content, but I feel that it’s overshadowed by preconceived opinions.

I try to forget California and Nine ever happened. After hearing the band themselves say it wasnt really even Blink, i just dont view them the same way as the rest of their discography

Can I just ask what music do you listen too? Because you strike me as someone that’s completely moved on from blink. Do you like new music? Are you into new bands?

California-NINE was definitely a dark period. My time as a blink fan would've assuredly been dead if they'd kept up that act.

blink-182 wouldn't exist today if it wasn't for that "dark period."  Give me a break lol.

I'd say it wouldn't exist if Tom didn't agree to return. Travis made it sound like during the Zane Lowe interview that the band was about to expire during the Skiba era. Even Mark made a dismissive comment about NINE. Thank God they got their shit together.

I still mostly listen to punk and emo and stuff floating around there, a lot of comedy music to ease the sad brain, hilariously at the moment I have been listening to that Chappell Roan record thats doing really well, never been big on pop but she’s friggin’ brilliant.

I guess it's been discussed and I guess I'm toooooo late to this. The thing is that I've been watching the Lollapalooza show and, holy moly, what Tom does in Dance With Me is... well, questionable? I guess is ok? I don't know. Lots of backing guitar track and he barely doing some licks or figures on his instrument. Even not touching his guitar at all at some point while guitar is playing behind. I mean, it's not new, we all know what's going on nowadays (not inly in blink's camp) and what not. I'm fine with backing tracks as a way to recreate a more full sound and what not. Also I'm fine with some pitch correction and whatever. But I struggle with the fact of Tom barely playing on songs as Dance With Me.

By the way, on that live broadcast the pitch correction is perceptible. They have fine tuned it a lot, and is not 100% on, so to speak, but it's there.

Anyways, I love blink and this period in time. Long like to this band, can't wait for the Deluxe edition of OMT.

ah! so we were right that they use backing tracks for the guitars, unfortunate they have to go the crowd pleaisng way, rather then stay honest n just play live for real

its why id never go see them now

Plus the Cali period kicked ass in general? Good vibes and good times
