I still think it would've had the same issues as Neighborhoods even with Jerry Finn producing if it was entirely on Tom's terms. Tom was willing to record a new blink album by sending ideas back and forth through emails.

Mark at the time felt the music should all be worked on in the same room as each other. Although he did mention in that interview from 2006 that Tom suggested recording at his home rather than a studio and obviously he felt that suggestion wasn't reasonable either because they lived a couple of hours away from each other (which is kinda weird because a lot of people most days do travel to and from work/uni with 2 hour distances from their homes so it's easily doable).

working from home is death

That’s absolutely fucked. I go half hour each way and that’s more than enough for me. Anything more and I’d be looking for another job.

My commute is supposed to be 20 mins, if traffic is bad it’s more like 40 and on days like that I am filled with such rage I could bend my car door in half. Could never do an hour plus each way every day, I’d get arrested for violence

Usually my commute is around 45-50 minutes one way, but sometimes it's like two hours. Sometimes my commute is longer than my shifts.

Working from home is the best. Not sure how dying feels though. Maybe when my time comes I'll be like "this is even more awesome than working from home" but for now I'm team working from home if I can.

Finally getting around to reading this. Pretty cool that he made it on the best sellers list.

Just finished it. Amazing read, absolutely loved it. Just wish it was longer, especially in the second half, I just feel like there's so much more we could hear about. Maybe he'll write another book in the future, probably not, but you never know.

Will be at the Savoy on Monday, can't wait, will be so interesting seeing Mark live but in a non-musical environment.

Imagine what the next Blink album would have been like if Mark and Travis agreed to Tom's terms and took 1 year off.

The older you get, the more you realize that 1 year isn't that long in the grand scheme of things.  In a parallel universe somewhere, we have the follow up Blink album produced by Jerry Finn and it is AWESOME!

C'mon dude don't be so gullible.

The reasons he "needed a break" weren't reasons that would have been resolved in a year. They persisted all the way through the SECOND break up years later.

He "needed a break" because his wife was a control freak and demanded he be home. Read between the lines. Look at how his behavior has changed since he got divorced.

He broke blink up and then sat at home, popped pills, lost his mind, and ended devoting even more energy into projects no one wanted. That is not what you do when you need a real break. But he was at home so it was okay.

Just finished it too.

Really enjoyed it. It was a great insight into Mark’s psyche. His OCD, germphobia and the themes of death and 1 in a millions that run through the book. I thought the early stuff pre blink was great and the cancer stuff was gripping. Top stuff.

Agree with most people that it was just a little short and the main disappointment was the stuff that was missing. I would have liked a bit more gossip, a  bit more detail on some fights or arguments. I would also have liked more detail on the Matt era. I remember Travis effectively saying “it ain’t blink without Tom’” I would have liked more insight into what went wrong in the Skiba era.

Also do we think Tom actually auditioned to be Stiffler? I’d pay to see that edit 😂

On a personal note, I don’t follow this band, or any music for that matter, as much as I used to. I used to spend hours trawling round looking for demos, tidbits, stories about the band. It was nice to get lost in that world again, felt like a real throwback.

I just checked my order - the book should arrive at my house tomorrow. I could already have it in my hands if I hadn’t taken advantage of a discount I had at a bookstore…

I’m excited to read it, though I have a feeling I already know most of what’s in it - at least the most important parts.

Now that you mention it that makes sense. I'm glad he got divorced then. It's crazy how a bad woman can cause so much hardship in a man's life.

Damn, blaming the wife without any facts at all. Didn’t know Ghent was so sexist. It’s not surprising to see the board Nazi agree with this take. You hate to see it.

Finished this last night. Really exceeded all of my expectations and rejuvenated my fan hood honestly. Was like watching UC2 and Riding in Vans with Boys back in the day, but a different format. (with that said they HAVE to do a documentary) That was so good it could actually be an acted movie some day, why not

I'm hung up on something and need help though. What in the hell did Mark mean during the passage about Skye getting sick in the hotel. He said her "vagina exploded" and even repeated it 😂

Is this a joke about not understanding female situations? Period? Is this an actual medical situation because he references the doctor? Or is this a joke about going back to the hotel and getting laid?! I figured I was just too dumb to get it so was scared to bring it up here. But then I searched on Reddit and saw people asking the same thing lmao

I felt so dumb while I was reading because I just didn’t understand what happened, I thought it was actually something medical because there was a doctor involved and it sounded like Skye was sick, but I was also wondering if it was some sex stuff I just didn’t understand. Boxelder says it’s an inside joke between Mark and Skye, which I still don’t get.
We’ll never know 😂

It has to be a sex reference right?! Like if she actually had an issue with her vagina he wouldn't put it in the book?

Was so jarring to read. I read it like 10 times trying to figure it out. Am I supposed to be turned on? Shocked? Disgusted? What is happening hahah

I hope it's something like this lol. If it's an inside joke about going back to the hotel and getting laid instead of schmoozing at a party 💯

If it's actually a medical situation or some other non-sexual reference.... Uh, I could have done without this passage

Also was pumped to see Mark talking about Disneyland repeatedly and even had a picture wearing a Buc'ees shirt. We're still soul mates
