petros Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 So I don't know if you guys have noticed but the band has been recording. They have posted some pics here and there on their instagram accounts (a suspicious hashtag #revrad has been going on) and they have been awfully quiet. In the green day forum one or two legit members have been told by people who work on the studio or touring companies that there is definitely something going on and it's coming sooner that we think (they said May-June I'm not sure about that though). And most importantly Jason Freese (the guy who plays piano live) was asked what he does now that green day doesn't have anything planed on a radio show and he said that actually green day are recording and they will rehearse in the summer and they have a huge tour planed starting in September. Now Green Day never tours without new material and these signs can't be wrong. One last thing. Don't ask me about the recording of Jason saying that. Green Day management disappeared it. They also asked Green Day Authority(the biggest news site for the band) to take the story down cause it wasn't "fully true" or something. So I thought fans here that didn't know all these may be interested and didn't see anyone else posting the news (not really news anymore they have happened weeks ago) so i summed it up! 3 Quote
Rocky Braveheart Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Greenday are on the same level as Tommy D for me. Could not give less of a shit. Although, tbf to GD, I saw them at Milton Keynes Bowl in 2005 (when they recorded Bullet in a Bible) and they put on a stellar show. Quote
Ghost Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 They are a great band. I have no question about it, and actually, I have very much interest to see what they are planning to release as a follow up to that late trilogy. The thing is that I liked much more those three records than 21CB. They are not very much consistent, but there are amazing songs there (tons of crap too, truth be told). So, we'll see!!! They need to find the right path. Quote
petros Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 I really dislike the trilogy so I'm hoping for something fresh. We got American Idiot 2.0 which was 21CB we got the midlife crisis mess which was trilogy now i wanna see were they would go. A politically influenced album seems fair considering Billie writes the songs and he seems to post a lot about politics these last couple of years but surely he has to write something about his recovery. So I hope this one is good. 1 Quote
Chrisx37 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Wow, I thought they'd come out with something next year. I was following bands that were recording albums (Sum 41 and RHCP) and they gave constant updates throughout this year, while Green Day just had that one BJA studio picture and nothing else. I'd love to hear more material, even though the last album I thoroughly liked was American Idiot. They might not make kickass albums anymore, but there are still some gold nuggets in each one that I'm looking forward to. 1 Quote

Quiet quiet and then BOOM rolling stones article, new album announcement, tour dates and new single etc etc. They only did the constant updates thing once with the trilogy. Just now, Chrisx37 said: Actually, with Donald Trump gaining popularity it wouldn't be a stretch to see them write about him like they did with Bush. Well Billie has said if Donald Trump gets elected he's moving to uk or something I don't mind a political influenced album I just don't want it to be forced. AI worked cause it was true. 1 Quote
Chrisx37 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Ahh I see. I've never followed them through their album-making processes so I had no idea. They definitely seem like the type of band to do something like that. Quote
Cheerios4u98 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I was just listening to Nimrod today and loving the shit out of it but I couldn't care less about new material from them. 1 Quote
Melty Mark Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Green Day and FOB could break up and I would exclusively care for nostalgia's sake, with no interest in them having new music. Same goes for the Foo Fighters. Quote
petros Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 Oh come on yeah the trilogy sucked and 21st wasn't that great but don't put green day to the fob category 1 Quote
Chrisx37 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 FOB's newer music is nowhere near as good as their older stuff, but it left more of an impression on me than the trilogy. What Green Day needs to do is get in the studio, write more inspired material, and not shit out every idea that pops into their heads onto an album. Quote
Kay Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I havent liked Green Day since warning. I know a lot of people blow American Idiots dick, but personally I think it's one of the most overrated albums of all time. 2 Quote
Chewy030 Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I enjoyed Uno thought dos and the were meh. I'll give this a listen for sure. I still enjoy green day. 1 Quote
boxelder Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 the trilogy was absolute shit (aside from amy) and i abhorred 21st century breakdown too. i like american idiot, but can agree it's massively overrated. i don't know what the new album would be like, but as a casual fan, color me mildly interested. so long it isn't some pretentious concept album bullshit they've done 1000 times but just a straight regular album like anything pre-american idiot green day's like a punk foo fighters. all of their albums since about 2004 have been overcome by gimmicks Quote
M!ke Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I'll certainly give it a chance, but my how my feelings for this band have died over the years. I loved American Idiot and most of their albums before it, but 21CB was mostly disappointing with a few great songs, and then the trilogy was just trash. I'd like to see another great Green Day album, but I just don't think they have it in them at this point. 1 Quote
