I'm pretty sure I said the exact same thing when I was 13. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

So you’re insinuating that everyone should love her music and image. And they’re being elitist if they don’t. Got it, thanks!

Nope, it's fine if you don't like her, it's just weird to make a big point of it. Like, I wasn't even quoting you initially, but you felt strongly enough about Avril that you had to jump in. It's okay, I'm glad you can embrace your inner teen.

Funny story, when I was 10 I was a big fan of her music and we had recently gotten a computer. My mum told me about this software called Kazaa and taught me how to download songs using it (we haven't downloaded songs illegally for over 13 years as we now know the effects of it). I downloaded music from most of my favourite artists at the time. This included basically anything that was pop punk/pop rock sounding, even as far as Busted.

When it came to Avril Lavigne, I tried downloading her song called Naked. When it finally downloaded, I double clicked the file and then I got a nude photo of Avril. It was one of those edited ones where they planted Avril's face onto someone else's body. Had to explain to my mum why that image was on the computer. I didn't check the "mp3" files or "img" files or anything like that. I had no idea what they even were. I thought I was downloading the damn song.

Omg, kazaa, that's a trip down memory lane.

@Patient #48273 Diddy gets weirdly defensive about shit no one cares about. Seems to be a thing.

actually I didn’t make a big point of it all. I made a joke because someone else said “I don’t like Avril, BUT...” and you proceeded to tell us how anyone who doesn’t like Avril is a insecure wannabe punk lol

I specifically said hating Avril. If you just don't like her music and/or image, that post was not about you.

Kazaa and Limewire were fun because you never knew for sure if you were going to get what you wanted or if it was actually gonna be porn or a virus or something. Good times.

Machine Gun Kelly is working with Avril Lavigne. Could be interesting.

Very likely to have been working on the collab with Mod Sun called 'Flames'. They've directed music video's for each over and Mod was all other the snippets of making 'Tickets to My Downfall', so MGK may have very well played guitar on that track.

As a matter of fact, that looks like Mod Sun holding the camera in the image haha!

Seein as this is a 'New Generation' thread, has anybody heard of the band Girlfriends?

It's Travis Mills and Nick Gross (Current Goldfinger Drummer) who pretty much decided to form a band around 12 months ago. Some okay songs are fairly decent, 'Stay Awhile' is very Boys Don't Cry/Just Like Heaven, for all you Cure fans out there! Possibly on John Feldmann record label, or he's worked with them at least, he's on their 'California' video.

I'm still listening to Tickets to My Downfall. Probably best non blink pop punk released for over 10 years

Nah it's better than anything Blink has released post-Self Titled. At least the lyrics seem consistently genuine and believable.

Yeeeeeah I think this is more about these guys giving up on new music for the last 10 years.

I've listened to all kinds of new music for the last 10 years, just not pop punk because it's been generally terrible.

This MGK album though. whew. genre is back in business ???

Shame it took a rapper who can barely play guitar to do it, would have been nice if the pioneers of pop punk could of done it tbh.

There's been a lot of pop punk over the years, the mainstream just isn't interested in it.

It's been going strong since the 80s ('74 if you count Ramones ... which, I do), mainstream or not. There's been a ton of great pop punk/power pop records in the last decade.
