What temperature did your parents keep the car at? I need to know to better understand this.

My dad thinks ACs are really hard on engines to this day, lots of windows cracked kind of days back then

OMT is projected to hit 69 in the hot100. Is that good Americans?

69 ? I couldn’t think of a better position

pretty good! edging did a little bit better, but that was mainly because of the hype, so OMT open up the ranking is more impressive. it’s EXTREMELY unusual for rock bands to go anywhere near the hot 100 at all these days, esp in the streaming age… even green day hasn’t really knocked a song on the chart since maybe 2009. bands like FOB have done better more lately but even that was 5-10 years ago.

OMT being anywhere near the hot 100 suggests either a major interest in blink again from a cultural perspective, streaming hype, or a major push from the label at forced relevancy (payola). i imagine it’s some combo of all three

It’s great. I think its a combination of a slow poppy song, great video and hype. I doubt the next single will break into the hot100 or even the UK top 40.

MTYK was number 99 this week here too.

True, I was watching reaction videos of people who have no clue about what blink-182 is (and don't know any of their previous songs) being impacted by this song and liking it. Very impressive work (possibly with the youtube algorithm playing a part too because I heard a few say they found this because of YT pushing it).

OMT peaked at no. 62 on the hot 100, just below edging at no. 61. it'll very very likely drop off next week, unless there's more of a label push to radio, but it's still a really solid showing. blink haven't notched two hot 100 placements since neighborhoods, and both of these singles did better than those (no. 65 for UAN and no. 88 for after midnight, respectively).

both singles also represent a more globally successful launch than anything since BTD in 2016. OMT is also reaching the charts in places like ireland, where they haven't charted since i miss you. i'm sure there will be more charts to come as the week rolls on, and OMT certainly isn't done on the rock/alt charts yet, but i would say already there's more interest in the band than there has been in some time.

Where did it debut on the Rock chart? Billboard makes you subscribe to see the other charts now apparently. Not sure who would ever pay for that, especially when their website is ad-ridden glitchy trash

I hope OMT stays on the Hot 100 for more than a week. That would indicate broader success than they've had in ages

I don’t even know how songs get popular anymore? When I do listen to the radio it’s an alternative rock station and the last new song I can remember was a Foo Fighters one. I do remember then playing Edging for a couple of months but haven’t heard it since.

Yeah it's all weird nonsense anymore. Nothing really has staying power. Looking at Blink's recent singles, most of the time they jump up for a big debut and then fall off the chart right away after all the initial streams have died down. I assume that's why labels prefer to keep pumping out new singles every couple weeks now. It's kind of impossible to compare to previous eras when radio play was the only thing that was measured.

Edging was technically one of their biggest hits of all time, it stayed at #1 on the Alternative chart for a longgg time, played during sports broadcasts, all of that, but I haven't heard it since late last year either haha.

One More Time is on all pop stations here, Edging was just on Virgin Radio and some alt rock stations.  Maybe OMT won't be as successful as Edging, but I think it's already got more exposure.

Officially #1 on Billboard: https://www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/blink-182-one-more-time-number-1-alternative-airplay-chart-1235441877/.

“One More Time” is the trio’s fifth No. 1 on Alternative Airplay, the three before “Edging” and “One More Time” not leading in succession. The band first ruled with “All the Small Things” beginning in December 1999 (eight weeks at No. 1), followed by “I Miss You” in April 2004 (two) and “Bored to Death” beginning in July 2016 (five).

By the way, "Dance With Me" hit #85 in the UK Singles Chart, while "One More Time" is still in the top 75. They are doing great over there.
