Really digging this batch of songs, Can't go back sounds fantastic, Everyone Everywhere is like another BCR song just fucking great, If you never left is rad. I think take me in would be a banger if the bridge was different the ooooohhhh in it are a buzz kill for me.

To play devil’s advocate, songs like that do feel more authentic with Tom in the band, since he never lost his immature, adolescent persona. Even during peak “I’M A SERIOUS ARTIST” era early on in AVA, he still told jokes about spreading barbecue sauce on his buttcheeks when I saw them live.

I agree there’s definitely a bit of hypocrisy, but I get why those songs might feel more appropriate now than in the Skiba era.

But also I’m admittedly a Tombot, so I can do plenty of mental gymnastics to justify liking this more than California.

I don’t really remember Mark ever growing out of his immaturity either though. He wasn’t always as outrageous as Tom but it was still always there so I still don’t get why it would be okay now but not then.

Big respect for the tombot acceptance admittance haha. That kind of honestly goes hard.

I’m ashamed to admit I googled this to see if it was true… I’m a dumbass

It actually was true lol. Seems the Reddit thread was deleted though.

I get way more BCR vibes from Can't Go Back than Everyone Everywhere. When that guitar comes in at the start after the drum intro, sounds just like Box Car to me. I keep waiting for the All Systems Go riff to start blasting.

*sigh* okay.

No Fun - 6/10. The long intro verse takes too long, the pre chorus is kind of awkward and the riff seems.. just.. not thought out, but it’s ironically quite fun. Tom sounds good. Some of the lyrics are surprisingly honest and genuine from them. It’s pretty good, chorus could’ve been better.

All In My Head - 7/10. I love how much this does yet doesn’t sound like blink. It sounds fresher but still like something they’d make I guess. The guitars aren’t what you expect but sound really good. I don’t hate the cum stains line tbh because contextually it makes sense, I think the chorus runs too long and sounds a little weird but it’s mostly good. Again surprisingly okay lyrics. Bridge is a bit pointless.

Cant Go Back - 7.5/10

I like this one instrumentally quite a lot. Probably my favourite chorus of them all. Simple but effective. The piano in this feels almost Untitledish.

Every Other Weekend - 6.5/10

This feels like poppy cure vibe. I do wonder if this didn’t make the cut because they preferred Blink Wave. I think it’s cute really, the cure aspect feels really obvious in the chorus and instrumentation but the days of the week really sold it haha, bridge is nice too! It’s a bit too poppy for me but it’s a solid song.

Everyone Everywhere -6/10

I like how weird this is. I don’t think this is more BCR than Terrified like some said although I do get the bcr feels. I like how dynamic and messy it is in places, but it doesn’t grab me enough to be super hyped on it. It does not feel like a finished idea. The last chorus is refreshing though.

If You Never Left - 4/10 (on my notes on first listen all I typed was “wtf”)

Well, it’s not Fell In Love, but it’s close to being that bad. Too cheesy and corny for me really, could replace their voices with literally any current pop punk band and you wouldn’t know. Just not for me. Pre chorus is alright I guess?

One Night Stand - 5/10

I kinda like the chorus. The verses are kinda… dumb. Not sure how to put it. Just a bit silly. I like it instrumentally but the melody and lyrics are just… not it.

Take Me In - 3.5/10

This sounds like it was written for a Disney pop princess. I do not like it. The vocal melody is excruciating frankly. Musically soulless too. The chorus slaps enough for me to rank it a little higher, but the lyrics keep it from getting higher than that. Seriously the melody is so painful wtf that bridge 😂 OooOooOoo

Overall? Honestly? Much better than I expected. A lot of formulaic ideas and it is quite so-so with a turn for the worst halfway through, but I rank some of these higher than the main records tracks (looking at you fell in love, edging, wwwy, hurts, childhood, see you and that other extra shitfest I forgot about).

Mark does sound really roboty throughout but I do think that might be a fix for his recovery so I’ll lay off.

I might add a few to my main playlist, pleasant surprise.

You were way nicer than me with the rankings.

CD is up for preorder! YEAH!

What I don't get is how it all fits on a CD? A lossless CD holds 70min, this is more than that. Unless they just pictured one.

Yeah, I'm interested to see how they do it... Only bummer (and I'm assuming nobody else really cares) is they're going with a digipack instead of a jewel case again so I foresee me ripping up that case as well.

Fucking love all of the new songs.  Honestly, I'd say part 2 is overall a stronger listen from start to finish than part 1 is.  Weakest song is probably See You, whihc of course we've had for a year now.  But I don't see myself skipping any of these songs on repeat listens, it's a brisk 30 minute listen where I'm constantly engaged and from start to finish.

I do have to say though how Part 2 on it's own and the Deluxe version create a weird paradox of a listen.  What is the correct way to enjoy the album? Cut Me Off, followed by See You, followed by Childhood to finish Part 1; where Part 2 in this version is only 8 songs and it starts with No Fun. Or the original 17 track order as Part 1, and then Part 2 goes from Cut Me Off, into See you, into No Fun?  I think I prefer it the latter way, Cut Me Off and See you always felt out of place in the digital version we had for a year, with it also feeling like a bloated listen at 19 songs.  Of course both versions are official depending on how you choose to get the album as a full Deluxe set or if you're just purchasing Part 2 on it's own, which is indeed what I will be doing on vinyl.

Yeah, when I shared the reddit post there was a second slide where Jake said this

Oh, 100% Mark didn’t either, but as you mentioned, he’s less in your face about it. Tom makes that immaturity his entire public persona, whereas Mark sometimes makes an effort to be the adult in the room; he always felt the more mature of the two, despite being a goofball himself. Again though, I have some inherent bias, so I can’t be totally objective here. 😂

I disagree soo much. Song feels so mark and Tom I couldn’t see anyone else doing it.

Seems that it wasn't all just B sides. Some new songs written after OMT

There's some screenshots in the comments and the one of Mark saying "if you knew how much cool shit could've happened but didn't it would break your heart" has me so curious.

Even though Tom is always more immature in his public persona his music still for a long while took a far more “serious” approach rather than singing about breakups and first dates etc as did Mark. Then Mark started singing more about his youth and stuff from around that (break-ups, teenage things etc) and got shat on for it, then Tom jumps on board and does the same and the same people now defend it 🤷‍♂️

Not that I don’t enjoy it. Obviously I love these songs as well as the Cali/Nine. Just calling out a bit of the hypocrisy, which you’ve been mature enough to admit exists which is actually nice haha.

Considering what led to it, and the fact that there are some legit bangers along with some underrated material, as a whole album, One More Time has to be put up with some of the best work blink has ever done.

Who would've thought at this time 2 years ago that we'd ever have these three together again, let alone release a 27-song album and be on damn near a year-and-a-half long World Tour?
