  1. Actually, Matt fans know when he's more erratic on socials it's usually a bad sign, that's kind of the point. He's weird yes, but he's been a bit more than weird than he normally is recently.

  2. It’s just Matt’s humour. Some people won’t get it but that’s fine. He’s just having a laugh. It doesn’t seem like there’s that many people bothered by it anyway.

  5. No, Ampeg stopped making them in 1995. They are getting harder to find due to the hype built around the fact that Tom used these back in the day (sorry about that!). If you do get a chance to purchase one, jump on it. Similar to Davey, I use a lower end Marshall cabinet as well (200 watt valvestate 4x12). It’s ultimately down to what sounds good to you. I may invest in an actual Marshall 1960 cabinet but what I have now gets the job done just fine. This is correct. Tom bought the 1002 and the matching 4x12 together in 1995, then swapped for the Marshall 4x12 after the goodtimes tour; then had the 502/1002 stereo setup in summer/fall 1996.

  6. I wouldn't mind seeing Blink put to bed. Bring back +44 or do the side project thing for a while. I'd like to see them do some one without restraints to genre or style.

  7. i bought the lower-end marshall cab to save a little cash. in the future i will probably invest in an actual 1960 reissue which is the one tom is using in the above photo at an off the record in-store appearance in san diego in 1996. he appears to have bought the ampeg head with the matching ampeg cab, but once he got the marshall he used it live exclusively until he made changes to his rig in late 96/early 97. cabinets are about three things in terms of sound quality: the actual cones (subwoofers), the wood construction, and the architectonics / volumetrics of the box itself which the speakers sit in. i'll let @Q182 and @blinkstillrules chime in on the rest.

  9. i follow him on insta and just assumed he has mental health issues (not in the way we assume tom does). i have friends who act similarly on social media when they're off their meds. when he starts channeling crispin glover, you know something's up. i also don't know him at all and am not a medical professional so idk.

  10. listening to this in earnest today and it's a very odd experience... i got into motion city during the MDL era, so it's pretty bizarre to hear a song from that time surface, unaltered and previously unreleased. i think career-wise there was a level of consistent quality across the board, but MDL was maybe the apex... they were truly at the top of their game IMO. crooked ways is just another winner...the fact that it went unreleased and forgotten is sort-of a tragedy. can you imagine how many new fans MCS could've made from being on a twilight soundtrack? the song's wonderful, i really really love it. it's pretty slow and middle-of-the-road upon first listen, but it grew on me so much. it honestly feels like a classic.

  11. The crazy thing is that I remember him saying in an track- by-track interview for Cali that joining blink was a beginning of a new chapter after he was going through some tough shit. (Believe he was referering to his divorce and My Shame Is True by AK3), but from the looks of it he seems to be even worse now. I mean you should never conclude to much judgning by peoples look, but even though his style has always been a little "out-there" I think the scenes now are surpassing it. He's been playing in a smaller band for the majority of his career - if something is wrong I think its the extreme fous on him that has gotten to his head being in a much bigger band like blink. I just hope everyone has got the balls to say "were done" if that is really the problem.

  12. skiba's instagram post about the song ends with "sincerely, the management" which is leading commenters to believe he's only posting about it out of obligation or he's being passive aggressive

  13. sure. we also have the visuals to contend with. ripe for debate!

  14. Have you got a link to Mark mentioning Matt’s sobriety? That’s genuinely worrying. He doesn’t seem like the kind that can just have a little and that last radio show stream they did he definitely looked coked up.

  15. I read it as feminist in tone because of lyrics where she’s owning being the one in charge during sex, like: Spit in my mouth, look in my eyes This pussy is wet, come take a dive Tie me up like I’m surprised Let’s roleplay, I’ll wear a disguise I want you to park that big Mack truck right in this little garage Make it cream, make me scream Out in public, make a scene I don’t cook, I don’t clean But let me tell you how I got this ring I tell him where to put it, never tell him where I’m bout to be (Huh) Put him on his knees, give him somethin’ to believe in Never lost a fight, but I'm lookin’ for a beatin’ In the food chain, I’m the one that eat ya If he ate my ass, he’s a bottom-feeder Overall I get “my pussy is ///wet/// and that’s empowering” /pro-sex vibes. But I can totally see why someone would read the lyrics as anti-feminist, as Laura said.

  16. Yeah, there are definitely feminists who would consider this song anti-feminist and plenty of others who wouldn't.

  20. Personally, I would agree but didn’t know how much of a bold statement that would be on here. Mark has had some pretty great lyrics during the 2000s but I would say Justin is more consistent. One of my favorite things about MCS is how Justin is able to write some relatable and occasionally goofy lyrics but is still able to sound profound without some unnecessarily deep and cryptic metaphor. I may be wrong because he still writes some cryptic shit every once in a while but he’s much more literal in a sense then others. Same thing goes to Mark in some capacity but there’s been a definite quality drop since 2016. Justin’s probably one of my favorite lyricists. I honestly wish I could write like him but I have too much writer’s block to just “let go.”

  21. Justin Pierre is a muuuch better lyricist than Mark. Justin's one of the best lyricists in the genre, man's a straight up poet.
    1 point
  22. Justin Pierre was like the only other guy I could see actually replacing Tom. Has a fantastic voice and range that could suit Tom-centric songs, decent guitar player, incredible lyricist on par with (prime) Mark, and has experience working with Mark in the studio. Obviously if that happened I would hope that they start a new band because it would be kind of ridiculous to pull a Journey and have a revolving door of frontmen. Gonna nerd out here but realistically it ain’t gonna happen since MCS is like 50% active right now due to the band becoming fathers so I doubt Justin would even be available to rigorously tour as much as blink does. I know it’s never gonna happen, nor would I want it to at this point, but I just killed one of my pipedreams lol.

  24. No Amepg doesn't make them anymore. As for a cab (they're speaker cabs not amps), save up for a Mesa Rectifier 4x12 with Vintage 30s or a Marshall 1960 4x12 with GT-12-75s. Buy nice, don't buy twice if you can swing it. When you hook your amp head to the cab, make sure you have the correct ohms hooked up.

  26. It'd be really cool if we got Mark and Travis collaborating with different people including Tom, Skiba and Feldmann.

  27. Well, it has been 5 years. He has gone above and beyond his call of duty, which was originally just to fill in for awhile. He never really attempted or wanted to stake his own kind of claim to the band. Has just been a soldier of productivity. I guess I just have the gut instinct that it's time to move on to something different for both parties.

  28. I'm right here with you 110%. Tom re-joining is my nightmare because he WILL stymie and fuck the band up again.
    1 point
  29. That might be the case. I just hope that, if they move on without skiba, they part on good terms. Also i hope tom does not rejoin

  30. I would be fine if Mark and Travis moved on without Skiba. He helped save the band, played his role great, but it may be coming time to part ways.

  33. Very cool! The Dammit version was always my favorite since that’s where I first saw the guitar. And convinced me to sticker up a few of my own axes I’m willing to admit that this guitar is 100% responsible for my taste in music. Without checking out the bands on it, I wouldn’t know about the smaller obscure SoCal bands (Rhythm Collision), hardcore (Gorilla Biscuits), and the Fat/Epitaph bands. For me it opened the doors to a lot of great music.
