Wasn’t it also that Japan tour where Mark had to tell Tom on stage to stop talking and get on with the song? You guys really overanalyze too much 5 1 Quote

surfbro16 Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 This is honestly one of the best blink videos i've watched in a decade. Please Mark do more of these! Such a good era of my childhood and to now have Mark Hoppus damm near be Blink-182 Morgan Freeman and narrate those moments is beyond fucking awesome! I want more! 8 Quote
Coddled Jan Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Vegans literally can't laugh because they don't develop enough dopamine in their system. 1 Quote

Coddled Jan Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Tom's still 4/10 for me with the jokes, Mark's about 0.5/10 average right now..just saying. Obviously both were comedic gold in the heyday 1 Quote

NotNow Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 So there’s this viral video of some dude covering semi charmed life as if it was written by blink-182...and I don’t get it. It sounds nothing like blink. It sounds like the shitty pop punk genre that arose after blink in the mid 2000s. 5 Quote

It was posted a couple of days ago on these boards but I heard it and the vocal melody is the typical generic pop punk trash from 2005 and onwards. Sounds more similar to the likes of Neck Deep or whatever. I've never heard one single song with that "What If blink wrote this" gimmick actually sound like blink. 1 Quote
Speedo Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Remember in Jackass when they'd sneak up behind someone and buzz their head with clippers? Mark needs that done to him. 2 1 Quote

Yeah I don't get that one however the same guy does country versions of pop punk stuff and they're hilariously on point. Quote

It's the same thing as when anyone covers a blink song and labels it "tom voice" or something. all the commenters act like saying "toime" makes you a genius who sounds exactly like Tom haha. The bar is very low for most listeners apparently 1 1 Quote

The bar is very low for most listeners apparently I always imagine these kinda songs to sound a lot more experimental if blink did covers of them or wrote them anyway. If these YouTube guys did a "what if blink wrote this" thing for the Cure's A Letter to Elise, then it's sound like generic pop punk trash still. Blink covered that song and made it entirely their own. If blink wrote it, it doesn't mean it's gonna sound pop punk. It's probably gonna have flanger effects and all that shit in it (especially if you're thinking of blink with Tom). 1 Quote
boxelder Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 btw someone commented elsewhere that mark’s story in the video totally explains his reaction to tom during the 2003 festival (bayfest?) where tom is riffing during the bridge of rock show and mark’s like “that’s enough”. mark says in the twitch stream that he was super nervous during that gig because cheap trick were watching from the side of the stage lol 2 Quote
Popular Post Champ182 Posted September 14, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 14, 2020 That Album Launch stream was incredible, truly the most heartwarming Blink content I've seen in SO long. I taped that on a VHS when it was on MTV and watched it so many times back in the day haha. It was nice to see Mark interacting with those fun Blink memories and not seeming uncomfortable or putting on a front. It seems like he's more at peace with the past and the thought of Tom as a positive former presence in his life. To be honest I have a friend like that as well, you can have a painful mental-health related "breakup" with a best friend but as time goes on you learn to appreciate the hilarious good times together and be happy to run into them and wish them well, even if you know you can't put that exact relationship back in your life. That was the vibe I got from Mark during that rewatch and it was nice to see. I would absolutely love to see him do this with the other Blink docs! 13 2 Quote

I must've missed it when they mentioned the show/that's enough bit. I remember the Cheap Trick part though. Hmm. Very cool! CT was one of my first shows...well, technically maybe not. May have even been AFTER I saw Blink!...it was still early on though. Hmm...i seem to recall I may have been asked to get written up for a newspaper article about it because of my enthusiasm. Lol The funny thing was, I didn't know a lot of the songs, but it was still fun. I dont recall reading about it though, so I think it was a local paper where the show was. Hmm, now I'm curious though. Will have to ask parents about that. Heheh yes, that was super fun when Surrender came on and I was there with my folks "Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird" alright, that's enough. Oh Mark is just so adorable! Haha Quote

That moment has been dissected so much since the first breakup it's good to have an answer. 1 Quote
