Elite Takes - this is jan Posted October 18 Posted October 18 I mean I STILL listen to Nieghborhoods time to time, doesn't matter the song. Natives, Wishing Well, Kaleidoscope, Ghosts. They're just good songs, bad production, tension in the brotherhood or not. They're much happier now, the songs are fun, but I very much need to be like "ooo Summer's now here and I'm excited let's blast this for a bit" and then be done with it. They're great when they come out, then idk if it's a subconscious thing or not, but it's like my ears don't want to go through the stress of the loudness of the songs. Even One Night Stand, Can't Go Back, I love love the songs, but it's an effort to listen to, and I'm not throwing them on anymore. They lack some kind of base level character, and are very surface level or something hard to put finger on. Neighborhoods can be put on anytime, anywhere, any volume, it's good. Does that mean I don't like One More Time or Pt. 2 all a sudden? No, it doesn't, but I"m JUST BEING HONEST about Neighborhoods being King. 1 1 Quote

Elisa Posted October 18 Posted October 18 Albums have so much less staying power nowadays compared to when we were young because they're more in your face in terms of sound and because of the amount of access we have to music (at the end we will always go back to the old stuff we love) and it's not OMT that is bad - it's a really good album - but you just can't compare an album that came out in 2023 with an album that came out when you were 20 years old and with 13 years of memories attached to it. 3 1 Quote

Exactly. How many of us would have loved toypaj if they released that now? Not many I’d imagine. Albums don’t have staying power at all because we’re just fucking bombarded with new music more than ever so it’s quickly onto the next thing, we consume music content like never before. I fucking love OMT though. Top 3 blink album for me 2 1 Quote
2point5 Posted October 18 Posted October 18 @Elite Takes - this is jan how do you feel about Everyone Everywhere now? I said I’d check back in a month or so, and I think it’s been long enough for the dust to settle. Quote
Low Value Boy Posted October 18 Posted October 18 I kinda wished they didn't bother with Part 2, none of the songs have any staying power for me and it's quite easy to see why none of them made part 1. Same goes for the bonus tracks. Less is more sometimes, should have just stuck with the original 15 tracks, most of which I still really like. 1 Quote

Dylan_ Posted October 18 Posted October 18 It seems pretty commonplace these days to release some kind of deluxe or remix. Charli xcx just released a remix of the album she dropped back at the beginning of the summer. My guess it’s just to get the streams up? 1 Quote

That said it has the same problems where as I don’t want to go back and listen to it as often as something less hyper produced, but that’s just what I’m into now as well. And really, you know it’s not so much the production, it’s just you sort of feel like they are cutting some corners or not as meticulously putting together forever like say Self Titled. They’re still good songs, fun, catchy, so when it the mood they’re fun Quote
